Time For The STR Sycamore(Ventura) Canyon Camp Out!!

February 25th, 26th & 27th
A Friday & Saturday & leave Sunday
Sycamore Canyon State Park/Pt. Mugu
We had a huge turn out in 2009 and had a great time. It was a tad warm though.
Last year was cancelled due to rain. Too bad but that's the way it goes in SoCal. :?:
I want to set it up again as an overnight camping trip to Sycamore canyon in Ventura.

This is a great park and has quite a bit to offer

It's right on the Ocean
It's extremely kid and family friendly
It has a huge variety of very fun trails
It has easy single track for the kids
It has harder and more technical trails for the big kids
It has hiking
It has showers
It has a trail system that allows you to do 5 miles or 30
It has incredible road riding off PCH
It has surf fishing
It has surfing

I thought it would be fun to put this together and get the STR gang over to the Santa Monica mountains. You guys will love it!! It'll be fun to get the group together for this and just ride and have some fun!

Darn, I will actually be camping/riding there the weekend before.

 

I will be hosting my birthday benefit ride the weekend before. We really hope to be recovered by then. Sounds like a great time for sure. I hope we can make it!!!

liz, what section do we stay in, and i know it says they will give you a site,but when you get there do you ask for a certain area?

 

Bummer have to miss again this year...sounds like a blast? - will be in the desert for the weekend on 75 mile charity moto ride.

 

Yeah, I'll be there. Trying to put together a mini bike tour with my mtb pulling my BOB.

 

I'll post up the sites I thought were nice in a a day or two.
I forgot to mention that you can make a reservation but then you get assigned a spot when you arrive.
I and some others got there early the first year and the ranger accommodated us and the area we wanted.
It worked out pretty well!
Maybe when making a reservation you say "Liz's hot party" or STR group!

 

Poop. That is the weekend of the Academy Awards. (Yes, i care.) We might join the campout fun but we gotta pack up early on Sunday and hit the road early for a big Oscar shindig.
