Should there be some sort of notification at least to the OP that a thread has been moved or merged?

Also what defines when? Simply because something is the same price?

Not bitching just wondering since I couldn't find my own thread.

Would handle via PM's if I knew who to talk to?

Like most people on STR, moderators have families, ride, and some even have jobs. In many cases there just is not time to create a pm for every moved or merged thread. We do leave redirects when threads are moved to the proper forum.

It's a good idea to search existing threads before posting an informational thread. Likewise, starting a thread in the proper forum will ensure it is not moved.

You can pm me with specifics if you have questions on a particular thread.
