just picked mine up from the ontario location, its brand spanking new! I spoke to the guy behind the counter (helpful guy named jonas), I had previously (earlier today) spoken to him on the phone and had him put a order in for me. Glad I did it he said "upstairs" got a call from thomson asking them to pull the posts from the website. not sure what the issue was, they still have posts in stock but it looks like you have to go will call them

sounds like Thomson didn't like one of their resellers blowing their product out way under MSRP. Good for them for standing up as it hurts their brand. And of course good for me for being quick to get a deal. lol

I disagree because it tends to only hurt certain retailers. Hell ok at the shimano situation where you can get the product for around half off if you order from overseas. Sure takes little longer but most still offer free shipping. So what have the accomplished?

I bought a closeout seatpost years ago that was a 27.0mm. I used a soda can to shim up to 27.2. It held up great and I rode it continually for 2 years without a problem.

Try to get that USA made seat post from overseas @ half off. ;)

It hurts the brand more then the retailers. The other retailers can and will pick up another brand if they don't get the support. Trust me, I have my own brand of product. Go through this all the time.

There will be a sale on Thomson seatposts again, but maybe with a slightly higher price. Just wait a few days and watch the Marketplace forum for them.

If you're a lightweight and looking for a budget-light post.
Here's some Race Face Revolutions for $21.98 at pricepoint.
Built for road, but they have some mountain lengths.
    210 gms for 27.2/300
    Clydes need not apply.

Not only does it hurt all retailers who dont buy at the kind of discount a WD like Jenson is, it devalues Thomsons inventory by the bank and in these times of credit crunch...a company does not want to be devalued.

It also pisses off retailers who carry Thomson and are buying it for MORE then Jenson is selling it for...hence why lots of manufactures require the use of MAP pricing. It levels the retailer field, keeps companies from being whores and keeps their inventory values up.

Dont get me wrong im a big fan of being on the recieving end of whoring but to advertise it sucks for everybody involved. But what do I know im just an engineer.

You have a good point, Wheel World buys alot of Konas and discounts them at the end of a season dramatically.
H&S Bikes who used to carry Konas hated them for that and perhaps lost business. Driving a few minutes down the road to save $500 is well worth it. I think MAP is good to a certain point. However, depleting inventory is important too for the manufacturers to get ready for the new season
thats where MAP isnt worth a damn.
Also you dont give many thanks out.

im ok with discounting them...just dont advertise it. The pen is mightier then the sword.

I never really understood the "thanks" button. I did it a few times thinking I should becuase everybody else does but then I figured...im not like everyone else. I would probably do it more if there was also a "no thanks" button and a "youre a complete douche bag" button so that it isnt like T-Ball and everybody gets a trophy.

I don't think they did advertise it. I thought someone saw a great deal and let his friends on know about it.

Either way I missed out and need a Silver 30.9, so I'm pissed.:drunk: No, not pissed, Drunk, just pissed mad.
