Back in August I went down fairly hard on my Foes up at Arrowhead. Got sloppy and went down on the side. Favorite helmet of 5 years gets cracked. Buy a new one (Bell Variant) and everything was fine. That cost me a minor concussion.

This morning I'm doing my regular 12 mile loop through Bonelli on the hardtail. 200 yards from the end. Easy 15mph on a mild left hander...next thing I'm on the ground. Scary part is I don't remember anything from seeing the stupid rabbits (I don't think they were the cause) until I'm standing next to my bike swearing. Right shoulder fairly good rasberry, right hip has a BF rasberry, right knee very minor bump, left knee has a good size scrape and gash across the kneecap. So WTF happened? Maybe I rutted it?
Still took the wife and kid on a rock hunting hike up East Fork at a 1-2mph walk afterwards. Ya I know, probably not too smart. But now I'm back and the pain is setting in. I want to have an adult bev and take a nap but I know better with a mild bonk.
Thanks for listening, I'm just a bit freaked because I don't remember going down.

And cracked the 7 month old helmet. It did what it was supposed to do.8-[

Cantact Bell helmets......they offer a crash replacement program for helmets....It is not a lot, but makes buying a new helmet easier.

I ran the playback from the Garmin 705 this morning. I can clearly see where I was out, as in blacked out, for two minutes and twenty seconds! That freaked me out but I sort of suspected it hence my delay in looking at the playback.

Walked back over to the crash site this afternoon...it was a rut that grabbed the tire. Found the place where I took my little nap. I guess I feel better having seen it so I can move on.

Yep, in most cases I highly recommend helmet replacement over the alternative!

i just went throught the same thing minus the nap, left side of me head sore, i cracked the shell on the helmet but not the foam... 4 beers later i feel fine except for the dull pain of the left side of the noggin, rasberry on the left shoulder...

I probably should have been more careful on a new traill (CHSP south ridge, near a trailhed with some houses) i took a right berm and came out of it onto the left track into some ruttage.

    live and learn

Careful drinking with the mushy head. I'm a friend of beer too but that day I backed off, but have since made up for it! ;)
