The Women of STR...

These past few months I must have asked myself ONE question at least 20 times...
"Is it me.. Or have the women (that I ride with) GREATLY improved their bike riding skills?" :-k

First time I met Tara, she had a few TURNING (and descending) issues... #-o
Today, she LOWERS her seat (in order to make things more fun).
Her turning issues are a thing of the past.
Rumor has it she went racing this past weekend... :?:

Lety- First time I met her was at Fully.
The only time she smiled that day was when she "finished" The Loop.
Fast forward a year: She just "finished" racing Mt. Sac.
Smiled before the race, during the race AND after the race! :clap:

SlowSpokes- The two of us have been riding together long before there was a STR.
As her name implies, she was "slow" on the climbs, just as "slow" on the descents.
Fast forward: She now spends more time looking for her full-face helmet than her XC helmet...
We have been to Mammoth. She has been to Whistler. She has completed a Counting Coup.
She has since moved on to marathons. Not bad! :clap:

Denmother- What is there to say?
XC, 4X, SD, Slalom, BMX, Downhill, Motorcycles...
If it has two wheels, she has won a trophy racing it! :clap:

Carla and her yearly pilgrimage to The Whistler Gravity Camp...
SheDevil putting on a full-face in Lower Rock Creek. SheClimbs riding "countless" miles with Pain Freak, Steppie and STJunkie. MrsBoats entering The Muddy Buddy Race. Julia finishing 5th in the State BMX Finals (against the boys)... Allison, Sauce and SDYeti... Talk about talented!
I could add 50 more names to this list!
I will surely add a few more in future posts.

What I am trying to say is: Keep up the good work! :clap:

Hopefully, a few women will chime-in.
Have you noticed any improvements (i.e. bike handling/cardio) since joining STR?
Proudest moment? Most disappointing moment? Have you wanted to "give-up" the sport? Got any pics that you would like to share?? Do you ride with your kids? Share with us whatever you want!

I've taken a shortcut at Fully to take a rider back for YOU (A few times).

I'll have to think this over, I am sure there is something to say about my riding. In all honesty my riding has improved since joining STR. Yes - Mark (mfoga) it has, if you can believe it I was much worse.:lol: There are trails I've ridden thanks to joining STR. Example: Turnball, Chiquita, and riding Fully and Blackstar at night. I still can't believe I climbed so much at the Turnball ride. It's still my favorite ride and I was so lucky to have JOx2 and Pato there.

I am sure Julia12 will chime in she has alot of good experiences to share.

You completely forgot my Hero. Although the others mentioned are like family and I am proud of them all.

Willie is my HERO!:clap: I am really proud of her she has really improved a lot over the last year.
When I first took her out mtn biking she rode a old hard tail trek with an amp research front fork= flexy she never complained. The bike was the wrong side she didn't care she loved to ride. I couldn't wait to get her a real mtn bike.
Then is was time for her to have a custom built bike so that is what I did and she still loves to this day .
I have seen Willie roll right through things many guys wouldn't do and pull it of like it was nothing. I have also seen her bite it hard and get up and keep going with a tear in her eye and the motivation of a 100 people. Though the good days and the bad days she always loves to ride with me and that is something indescribable and amazing.


Dino you may have just lost your Willie hugging privileges.#-o

 

Truth be told, I had planned on devoting an entire post to The Queen.

From the first time I met Willie...
To the time WE took her to the park (i.e. ENDO/HUCK fest).
Watching her power past guys (at Fully) on her cyclocross.
Climbing her pink Chumba.
Blowing past Jesse while bombing down Chutes
The "DUES" she has paid (in the form of crashes)...

Willie knows I am proud of her!

AND ANOTHER THING: Only Willie can take away my HUGGING priviledges!

Lots of ladies to mention here. Some were already good riders like Allison, Steph aka sdyeti, Denmo, CC, Chris aka Sharky, Carla aka cbharping, Sarah aka sauce, & Rach aka Wrecker when I came on board, but since then many others have joined STR. Too many too mention. During the summer and fall of 2007, I met many STR ladies during many social and training rides and I've seen the improvements.

Jason, thank you sweetie. You are the best. I never complained about the Trek because you kept telling me it was a really bitchen bike. I didn't know any better! You're still the best. :lol:

And Gene, you've helped me to really believe in myself and never quit. You're a great friend and mentor and I'm glad you didn't move up north.
