I've been body surfing there when it's "small", but having little to no water beneath you is way sketchy. At lifeguard training in HB, one of the first things they told us was "If we catch you out at the Wedge, you're fired!"
They didn't want us getting hurt during training.

Some big wind swells came in yesterday, kinda nasty and disorganized, though. Still a few kooks trying to surf it. :?:

Can't wait until the water warms up! :bang:

A friend of mine was out there for over 8 hours that day, Joe. Biggest south swell we've had in 10+ years.
That day at my local spot, I caught the biggest wave i've ever ridden in SoCal (i've been surfing since the 70s).

    In/around Laguna that same day...

it looks like it's barreling inside the harbor entrance. freakish.

btw- this is a fun little bike ride destination. just pick up the bike path anywhere south of seal beach, follow it to where it ends about a mile past the balboa pier, and take balboa blvd. to where it deadends at the harbor entrance. parking/driving can be a zoo when it's big there, which is usually during turista season anyway.

Anyone remember Hurricane Hernan and what it did at the wedge? I was just a spectator but it was the most awesome thing ever. September 02, 25' faces
