I got there at 2:00pm today and they ran out of membership forms and number plates. I stood in line for about 20 minutes to find this out. Online registration could make things a lot better. Not looking forward to waiting in line tomorrow.

All I can say is welcome to Fontana. For the first race better show up early or stand in long line.

That being said you should have been able to bypass the DH people in the line if you were racing XC/SD

Trying to view the results from their website and I get a bad link. I get a bad link on a lot of their site. After racing and being there most of the day, this is a great event but very un-organized. Hopefully things get better as the season goes on.

Donnie and CO have only done this for 22 years. You'd think they would have a better start to the season. I don't remember any of these complaints over the past three years. They usually don't post DH results until about Tuesday.

i think most of us are use to madness to sign up first day and know to be there early or sit in long line. Seems many people's first time and aren't use to the madness. I wasn't there so I don't know if it was worse or what but sounds like SOP for the first race.

If you are just doing DH, the best way to go about it is to buy your wrist band for practice on Saturday, then sign up for the race Saturday after you practice. You will get credit for the difference, and there are no lines. Doesn't help the Saturday racers. Online would help a lot.

As far as XC goes, this year was no worse than past years. It wasn't really all that bad, but it does seem like they could do something to be more prepared for the first race, even if it's just having a few more people working the registration table.

I did notice, and I don't ever remember this happening before, the XC race didn't start until 9:43am. It seems they are always on time with the race starts.

I think it's a big stretch to call Southridge unorganized though. My only real experience is with XC (and a few Super Ds a couple years ago). Other than a long wait to register for the first race, I feel everything is organized about as well as it could be. Plus, price is pretty cheap to race if you have SRC membership and it's one of the best XC courses you're going to find (IMO).

Awesome XC course this year for sure. I haven't raced in Fontana for a couple years so all the singletrack sections heading over the mountain were new to me. Anybody have any pictures for free/sale? I thought I saw one photographer out there with a big SLR on the course.

Im thinking about racing the super d course, so you pretty much just show up early enough to sign up for the first race? and for practice its open the weekends there are no races?

Answers to what I think your asking.

Yes you just show up and register, it wont be nearly as bad for rest of the races. The first race everyone is trying to get membership again after that its pretty quick.

Yes the area is open to ride , however the course for SD and DH change every race so you cant really practice the next course before the race, except for that Fri after the course is set.

I can give you the results, I beat Aaron Gwin, Troy Brosnan and Greg Minnaar.

Its was easy since they did not show up.

SRC does not have a pre-beginner class, so Kyle is not interested in sandbagging this year
