So the loop claimed another, final injury tally broken left clavicle, extremely bruised left hip, pulled right quad muscle, sprained(hopefully didn't even have them check it) right wrist, plus some minor bumps and scrapes on my body and head. Was there for the Tour De Tryptophane but forgot my lights and legs were not feeling so good so I was just out having fun. Was out on a lap with DavidB and Julia showing Emcil 's group the loop(first time). Had talked about how the loop takes people out all just before the rail road tracks. #-o So we hit the part by the golf course and I go sprint into the jump at the beginning and didn't clear my back tire so when it hit the hill it send me flying OTB. I knew in the air I was in trouble it didn't fell like I got enough air to clear the hill and well I didn't. I am not sure now I landed but I came to rest face down facing up the hill but a good distance down the trail. My bike had flown even further down the hill towards the GC. I laid there for a second saw my glasses grabbed then and put them on my helmet and got up to walk it off. David said I was already getting up before he showed up. I was not able to stand or walk due the fact i couldn't put weight on right leg without the muscle giving out but everyone thought I was dazed from head injury. I felt some weird feeling in shoulder so tried to get my pack off and when i did and moved my left arm i knew what was wrong. At that point I was just going to walk myself out but that was not going well. Lucky for me Elvia came to rescue me at the tunnels and I decided just go to the local hospital instead of trying to drive myself to Kaiser. The doctors and nurses were all great and all a little shocked when asked whats wrong when I responded with broken collar bone, maybe broken scapula. So after about 4 - 5 hours later a bunch of x-rays and a ct scan doctor goes you were right its just a broken collar bone:lol:. Elvia took me across the street to get my Oxycodine and was ready to drive myself home(against peoples wishes). Stopped grab some burgers from McDonalds(not the best but it was close and no line in drive thru). Got home let Elvia know I was home ok, ate the burgers and popped the oxy and tried to sleep. I got maybe 3-4 hours of off and on sleep (couldn't get comfortable) Thanks to everyone who helped me get to car and get my bike there, get my bike in my car and especially Elvia for picking me up driving me to hospital and waiting with me, taking me to get my drugs and back to the parking lot. Thanks too all the riders who asked if I was ok as I was trying to make it to the road. A big no thanks to the a hole in the Fullerton Bikes Jersey who was in such a hurry he yelled look out rider coming as I was walking out with one emcil's friends At least I get some good ohhs from the golfers who saw the whole spectacular crash and got offered some liquid pain reliever from some golfers on the Tee when I was walking by.
The most DANGEROUS trail in SoCal takes another victim! #-o Are you in much pain? How is the wrist feeling today? How long are you off the bike? If you feel like joining us at Roscoe's (on Thursday), I'll buy you a soda! Get well soon....
Pain is dull as long as i don't move my arm wrong id I do its sharp pain but manageable. Wrist still hurts but pretty sure its just sprained. No answer yet but based on the time when i broke other one I would guess 3 months. I will be showing up to Roscoe's here and there.
Best of luck on the recovery. The deadliest beginner trail around. lol I used to teach at Sunny Hills which is right along the loop somewhere, still have never ridden it. All the Loop crash stories, better make sure I have my new insurance card handy whenever I do get a chance to ride it.
Good luck on the recovery, I hope it's quick and successful. When I got injured on the loop, the physical therapist kept telling me that's a dangerous trail. I told him, uh, not really, it'a actually pretty easy. He continued to tell me they're constantly getting people every month in there who got injured on the loop.
Bro, that really sucks. Heal quick. Don't get bummed. You'll be riding your bike before you know it.
Real sorry that I caused your accident. Next time I won't bring (Gwench) my beautiful wife for you to impress..... Vince (NasdayTrader..?) was my buddy that walked you out. Heal up quickly there's lots more trails you can show us.
D- u got plans to help him if not??? :-k8-[ M - Healing vibe brutha. the loop is ruthless. pretty sure it must have been an indian burial ground or something, cuz if mos def some bad mojo in the air#-o
damn mark that sucks. like everyone else, heal up quick. on a positive note. thats one less guy we have to worry about at the races. lol!
I was getting ready for my second or 3rd lap when you got back from the hospital. Heal fast and never under estimate the Fullerton loop.
OMG! I feel so bad for you! And no, I absolutely do not want to trade injuries! (Your comment on my own "rider down" thread didn't make sense until I saw this today). I hope you heal up quickly!
