It's taken 7 days, but I'm beginning to feel normal again. (Woot, whoot!) After a 4.5 hr surgery repairing herniated disks and shaving the insides of the vertibrae, they found a tear in the covering of the spinal chord. They super glued it back together and had me lay flat on my back for 3 days. The pain meds keep you in sort of a Disneyland. I really appreciated those that came to visit me at the hospital... it's just no fun to lay in bed all day!!!! I'm now sleeping through the night (better rested!) and back to eating normal. I really missed those BMs the first 4 days... funny how that can drive your world! Now the real danger comes as the pain retreats. You feel normal yet you are far from being healed. Ranger Nancy caught me spinning the wheels on the Tallboy. I was able to convince her that I was merely distributing the Stan's within the wheels (wheww... that was close!) Appreciate all the healing vibes sent my way. I swear it really helps.... of course, I can't do dishes yet, nor vacuum... nor make the bed (doctor's orders!... no, really!). I walked outside yesterday and sat in the sun for 30 minutes... felt wonderful!!!!! It's soooo beautiful out there. Please don't use up all the trails before I'm back, grasshoppers!
I thought this was gonna be a poop story for a minute. Glad you are feeling better gregg! Hope to see you out on the trails soon!
You can spin the stans, but no dishes?! Hmmmm. j/k Actually, I always get a stiff back when i stand in front of the sink or fold clothes for a period of time. Better take it real easy buster. Glad to hear you are on the mend though!
I volunteer to distribute the your Stan's in your Tallboy every weekend for about 2-3 hours at a time. Let me know if I can help! Glad to hear from you! Take it easy and we'll keep sending the good Vibes!
Good to hear things are going well in recovery. Give the deserved time it needs to heal right. BTW, the Photoshop contest was all bvader's idea.
Once you've been injured in the past, you always feel compelled to tell others to take it easy and fully recover, not to push a freshly healed body. But you... super glue on your spinal cord?! Wow. Best wishes and here's to a complete and patient recovery.
+1... I actually listened to my doctors once, and it worked. A couple of years ago I spent 12 weeks in a wheelchair (and an additional 4 weeks on crutches) due to a broken pelvis & femur. My legs shriveled up in no time, but once I got back on the bike: A) I felt like a kid again! B) I was weak. C) My passion for cycling grew exponentially! D) I gained back my fitness with very liitle effort (probably because I was having so much fun on the bike). Allow yourself to heal properly. You'll thank yourself 6 months from now.
I never met you before, Gregg, but I'm glad you're healing well. From one guy with a busted back to the next, just be patient. I broke my L2 vertebrae while surfing last Christmas and have only been riding again in the last 3-4 weeks. It was tough at first, but it is surprising how fast the body remembers.....
Way to come back Gregg! Yeah, just take it easy!! How'd you like those photo's of you in your last thread. I still laugh looking at them!!
Yeeehaw! Great to hear the surgery went well. If you need anything, please give a call or an email. Hell, I'll help out with dishes if you need it. I'm not to sure about cleaning your chonies though... Heal quick my friend!!!! See you in Downieville (but hopefully before then!)
Glad to hear that youare doing well. Never met, but if you need anything and it's within my power. Just PM me.
