    Tips from Gene Hamilton

Here's some tips from Gene Hamilton:

    Some important things to remember:

    1. When practicing skills quality, not quantity is the key. Practice skills when you are warmed up and fresh and stop and refocus after every third attempt.

    2. Smile, smiling releases endorphins which relax you and make you happy. When you relax your facial muscles the rest of your body relaxes.

    3. Have a purpose! Don't just ride work on something like looking ahead with you chin up, breathing and being relaxed, etc. (having is a purpose too).

    4. Enjoy the now. Instead of focusing on your goals focus on being the best rider you can be that moment/day.

    Ride! Ride!

try as many different terrains as you can!....(without jacking yourself up...)

Downhill, XC, Rock gardens, Jumps, Trials, Drops, Technical, loose, hardpacked, wet, snow, rain, cold, hot, etc!!....
This will teach you the ability to judge trails/yourself and have more control!...
    Its all about Control!......
no control means a nasty crash and burn!...
also build strength, endurance, coordination, agility, etc.....

    1.relax.

    2.enjoy it.

    3.dont death grip the bars.

4.its not a competition so find like minded riders and ride with in your limits but do try new challenges.

5.and most important of all dont be a fair weather fairy, try and ride in the rain or when its greasy this will teach you how to catch the bike at lower speeds, which will in turn learn you how to catch the bike at higher speeds.

6.if all the above fail win the lottery move somewhere where the sun shines and pay your friends to ride crap to make you look good.

1 - brake before the turn not in it...tires will stick better when they are allowed to freely roll...its really about one directional force rather than multi-directional force

Thats very good advice........Trust your bike and sometimes you just have to let go of the brakes, also.
