Sedona was so epic I had to stay an extra day than originally planned (Thanksgiving). Much better than any Turkey dinner. I hit a newer trail that starts right in tow between Sedona and West Sedona. It is like Sedona's version of the Fully Loop. Which got me to thinking . . . if you live in Sedona is it like the saying, "Show me a beautiful woman and I'll show you a man who is tired of f-ing her." Do you get tired of the "same ole" trails or is there too many to choose from and they are too epic to get old?

Anyhow, nice and easy 10 miler after two days of hard riding. Don't let the numbers fool you. 20 miles in Sedona is not like 20 miles in SoCal. Much tougher.

After the first several of this common chunky step ups you learn how to attack them. It isn't easy, especially when tired, but 29ers sure do help. This type of obstacle is everywhere in Sedona and a real PITA.

And . . . the gnarliest and most technical (relatively) flat trail I have ever been on and the only time I crashed in Sedona (and more than once). Crusty is no joke.

Looks not too bad at first . . .

Then you hit this. Yes Virginia, THAT IS THE TRAIL.

Even the 29er was no match for this mess.

    Day 3: 10 miles - Adobe Jack - Jordan - Grand Central - Crusty

A great 4 day trip with three great days of riding. I think I'll make this an annual Thanksgiving week tradition. Lucked out, it had rained the few days before, and it was epic hero dirt. I wish I could have stayed another week. Thanks to dstepper for the tips. Maybe I'll go back for Spring Break in April. The eight hour drive SUCKS, but you forget all about when the tires get that first taste of red dirt.

Sugar Loaf Lodge was a good value. Cheap, clean, and simple room. Plus, they let me put the bike inside. Last day I had Thanksgiving dinner at the Red Planet Diner. I should have ordered The M.O.B. (The Mother of all Burgers), but I saw it after I had already ordered. Next time . . .

Sounds like an excellent trip! Sedona has been on the list, but I think it just moved up a couple of places. I assume fall and spring are the best times to go there. Thanks for the RR.

    Great RR, thanks for posting!

Sedona has some great chunk, looks like you had the right bike for it. Glad you pulled the trigger did this trip; road trips to ride just breed more riding trips...
