When should one thank a post? When it has usefull info? When its written by a friend? Or if it only pertains to me? I only ask because some posts are given thanks for what seems like statements.

I like to thank when a poster took time to post pictures of a trail ride and when I read useful information such as a race/event, repairs, new products, tips, etc. Also, I thank a post if it is hilarious (e.g. the Phantom pooper ).

When it makes me laugh, helps me out, or exhibits wit, sattire, or a well thought out post.

Clicking "Thanks" is a lot easier than typing, "That bike is Sweeeeet!", or "^^+1", or "Great pics and ride report!", or "Sorry to hear about you're crash, dude.", or "ROFLMAO" etc.

I would still like to see more people respond with "ROFLMAO", though.

But only when they really mean it.

To keep it close to thanked posts. Balance is the key here.

Oops, looks like I'm a little trigger happy. Sorry but some folks aren"t going to get their thanks for a day or two.

If I start the thread I'll thank everyone who takes the time to answer it or comment on it.

Otherwise, I think its never to much to thank a fellow cyclist for anything, no matter what, so I'll pretty much thank everyone on STR...

    I THANK a post if:

    1. A bit of knowledge is forwarded (to me or someone else)
    2. Someone posts anything that helps a fellow STR member
    3. Someone takes the time to post pics/ prepare a Ride Report
    4. Someone posts a cool video

    5. A Newb/Lurker takes the time to come out of their shell
    6. Someone INTRODUCES themselves (i.e. starts a thread)
    7. A Newb comments on how they attended their first STR Ride (glad they did)

    8. Someone displays an act of Brotherhood/Friendship
    9. Someone starts a thread with the words, "This is my first Ride Report"

    10. Someone posts something clever/funny/satirical in nature

    11. Anything (i.e. good or bad) with the words "dw-link" or "Iron Horse" will earn you a thanks...
    12. Etc. Etc. Etc.

A few things I DISLIKE about the Thanks button...

    1. When someone has 450 Thanks Earned... 0 Thanks Given! :?:
    2. When someone clicks the Thanks button ONLY for buddies/members of their clique :?:

    3. When people reward someone (i.e. clicking the Thanks button) for "disrespecting" another STR member :?:

    4. When an A-HOLE starts a thread seeking VERY SPECIFIC information and fails to THANK the person who answers the question. They can thank other people in their thread- Fail to thank the person who... Why? :?:

    5. My opinion: MATT13 is one funny dude!
Why more people don't thank him for a "job well done"- I do not know! :?:
