Tahquitz Bike Festival in Big Bear - Date changed to May 2011

Ok guys and gals, you get to hear it first. I am working on putting together a bike festival in Big Bear.
Bikes, beer, food and demos!

Would love to get any input, volunteers or just general talk. Working on getting sponsorship to help make this big.

Feel free to ask any questions as this is pretty short.

 

Sounds like a fun time. You realize this is Memorial weekend right? Lot's of people out of town and can be a little tougher finding lodging/eats in BB for those that want to make it a weekend.

 

a non-holiday weekend might be best and more successfull

 

Thank you, that's why I thought I'd post and see what people knew. I'm totally illiterate when it comes to holidays. My next date would be June 5th.

 

June 5th sounds good, I can convince my brother so we both can go. We just got into MTB'ing so it seems like a fun time especially up in Big Bear.

 

Sounds interesting. What kind of demos should we be expecting?

 

June 5-6 is the US Cup West Series-Santa Barbara Bike Festival.

 

Maybe keeping that same weekend in mind but a ride dedicated to those Men and Women who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Let's never forget the purpose of Memorial Day.

 

I would definitely be interested--it's always fun to spend a weekend riding up in Big Bear. I'm also curious to know what demos your hoping/planning on having up there?

 

Anytime before June 11th is good for me... Ya I'm one of the few who like watching Fifa World Cup. :lol:

There are three weekends when Team Big Bear will be hosting the three US Cup MTB races up at Big Bear. (see schedule at www.teambigbear.com). These races usually bring thousands (OK multiple hundreds) of mountain bikers, family, fans and friends up to Big Bear. Maybe you can do this Festival in conjunction with them and help each other bring more folks up to Big Bear. Their Big Bear Shootout races are on Sundays so maybe you can do your's on the corresponding Saturday and bring people up for the entire weekend. Their dates are MAy 2, May 16 and June 20.

 

For those of you interested in demos, I am going to try and have a little of everything. All depends on what companies I can get to come up. Would like to cater to all.

 

I have a meeting tomorrow with a large potential sponsor. Keep your fingers crossed!!

 

Wasn't planning on announcing this today, but I can't contain myself. The bike festival here in Big Bear will be sponsored by New Belgium Brewing. The date is still being determined between two choices.

 

Mountain bikes, beer, Big Bear. Oh dear, my pants are getting tighter. Nice job! :clap:

I like the idea and I like the May date. If it goes on you can count on me being there with a friend. I have always wanted to ride in BB but have not had the chance. This would be a great first look.
