I know this is kind of late to post, but I'll post it anyway. SO me and Happy Gilmore went to Tahoe to ride Northstar over the 4th of July holiday. We stayed at my friend's place who lives in the area. All weekend he was telling us about this gnarly trail that's just in the hills behind his house. So after the second day of riding at Northstar and a large dinner we decide to go check out the trail on foot. This is a semi-legal trail as it is on private property. The owner has a son that rides so he's cool with it as long as it doesn't see too much traffic. The drop in. The landing Down the stairs Over the uber-crappy, tore up, over the rock gap to the bermed right hander. Another gap jump over a rock. The same gap jump from the side. To yet another gap jump Okay, here's where it gets interesting. You have 3 choices to hurt yourself. Option #1 A gap jump over another bridge to a transition that's about 20-25 ft away in between two huge boulders. The transition looking back up the hill. You can see Happy Gilmore standing at the base of the ramp for scale. Option #2 A 7 ft high step-up, over a 10 ft +/- gap onto a flat rock that has about 12 ft of landing space until you go over a 7 ft ledge to a flat landing. and the drop off immediately after the landing. Option #3 Up the ladder onto the rock wall ride to a 6ft drop onto the transition between the two huge rocks Then up this rock. Dropping off the other side to flat landing. To another hard-to-see bermed corner To another absolutely stupid over-the-rock gap jump. Sure to severely punish those who fall short. A little ways down there's this cool ladder feature my friend showed us. To a short log ride over some boulders. Then a small bridge over a tiny creek.
There are a lot of jumps/drops I have hit and would hit, but most of those seem downright stupid... Some of them look fun though!
Cool while it lasts. Not that secret, there is another thread about the rangers putting the kibosh on this...
Isn't the other thread about illegally built trails on public land? The trail featured here is on private property, so if you have the blessing of the owner you can ride it legally. Just don't piss him off or you are right it won't last long...
Yep, broke my clavicle when I looked at the pics. That's some over the top stuff. I've got no interest in attempting it but I'd love to watch people ride it.
