Mark, I rode down in the canyon this afternoon and notice them as well. I noticed a couple on the top of Westridge as well. I definitely don't like the looks of it......the canyon is my favorite local riding spot.

I talked to a few of them and they were surveying for the gas company. They are done now, but I can only surmise that the gas company will be doing some work in the future since they went to the trouble of hiring all the surveyors. They also were working up on mulholland and part of westridge (there were some white x's which were survey points that could be seen from the air).

As many of you know, they have graded sullivan in the past, and will likely do so in the future to protect and work on their gas line.

The latest according to MBU patrol last week:
" Met a couple Gas Company employees on our MBU Patrol today, their boss (Over gang that is repairing pipe in Sullivan Canyon) is Ron Silver. The crew run some sensors down the inside of the gas the pipe, found three sections that show corrosion and need to be repaired. They are grading a dirt road from the bottom to bring in vehicles to do the repairs. After they have gone, the first good rain storm will revert the canyon back somewhat the way it was......... "

Someone also said that while all this is happening Sullivan is going to be closed to the hikers, horses and bikes - safety reason.

This is not a rumor. This is going to happen. How soon? Watch for crews, signs, etc. Enjoy the trail now while is still good

That's not so bad. It's actually great new compared with "this area is going to be bladed and turned into a golf course/housing tract/shopping center."

Non-leaking gas lines are the best kind!

Thanks for the heads up. Last time I was there (about 3 weeks ago) I noticed a bunch of stakes and lots of fluorescent spray paint markers and figured something must be happening.
