Ricky, Chewy obviously does not have the ability to diagnose and fix his truck. Do you want to give him a hand? I think he can use your expertise. He's still looking at bikes and not one mention of fixing his truck:?:.

If he can i think he needs to hit the coolent/block with a temp gun and see what kind of readings hes getting, seems like one of those things where he will get the whole motor apart to find out its a misfiring sensor in the pan.

Ok smartass. I have been busy with skool and work *where i am right now*. Havent had much time to work on the truck. Oil pressure gauge and adapter fittings should be in my mailbox today..... If it has oil pressure... i get to start the motor and chase down the other problems.

Not gonna run it until i know i have oil pressure doof. Both sensors check out. Coolant sensor is good. Oil PSI sensor checks out when off, but obviously hasnt been tested while running.

    Please dont insult me :)

So the truck has OIL PRESSURE :)

so oil pressure switch or the harness is faulty. Time to move onto cooling system. Compression/Leakdown and Cooling system test.

Don't be so fast with your diagnosis, it could be something as simple as a loose connection or break in the wire.

Diagnosis requires you to think slowly and thoroughly, following through and eliminating problems, step by step. Don't shot gun it with the approach and hope that's it.

Put it on an OBDII scanner and see if it pulls any P codes. Then go online to a Nissan enthusiast website and do a search for people with the same vehicle that have run into that code and how they fixed it.

To me, it sounds like you have an overheating problem due to either a stuck thermostat, or you've run non distilled water in your cooling system, and have been adding water from time to time, building up mineral deposits in your block and radiator. I'd go with buying a $10 thermostat and changing it out, and if it still runs hot, check your water pump out to see if the pump cage has cracked on the water pump. If that's still good, it's time to either rod out the radiator, or replace the radiator. Also check to see if your hoses are firm on the intake side of the waterpump and that they are not collapsing due to suction and cutting off the water pump from getting coolant.

Measuring temps with a temp gun once up to running temp can assist a lot in diagnosing where the problem is, due to differences in heat temps. Measure the temp past the thermostat and before the thermostat. They should be almost identical. Measure the temp at the radiator inlet from the thermostat. Measure the temp coming out of the radiator. Should be much lower.

Yep, it runs. Driving it short local distances to make sure it doesnt overheat or act stupid.

We replaced the oil PSI sender and everything is working swimmingly thus far.

I will check the stash of oil filters i have for PN's

But what about the coolant temp spike??? What caused it then? Or was the coolant temp sender wire a part of the short along witht the oil pressure sender wire????

    It was low on coolant...
The coolant temp sender seems to be working.

    Thats the puzzle still.

No leaks of any kind, and thermostat seems to be functioning correctly.

weird. maybe low coolant just caused it to overheat and almost stall, causing the oil pressure light to come on. but that doesnt explain the coolant loss. oh well. let me know about the oil filters
