well, this is the response i got from the seller.... I am not certain of the exact time, but the dent happened in the first year that I owned the bike when I had a seemingly harmless crash at Northstar. I'm 43, so not exactly crazy, but I rode the bike a lot this past season... about ten days in the bike park and the rest as an all-mountain bike on local trails without any concern about the frame integrity. I've examined the entire frame and there are no cracks, including at the location of the dent.

thanks for all the help guys. i ended up picking up a 2005 big hit fsr. love it! the only thing is after 2 hours riding saturday for the first time on it i broke the left crank...so im down for a bit again. haha, thats my luck lately with bikes.
