Is this what the route is or at least for the most part? http://www.geoladders.com/show_route.php?from_top=1&route_id=1
That is it Mark. Or you can keep going straight to old camp, which will put you at the bottom of the Joplin trail. I think it is like 5 more miles up.
No, with all the rider expected to go, we won't have time. It will be dark before 6pm. We have fesivities at Cook's after the ride. Save Old Camp for another day. Besides, it needs rain and traffic to get the trail pounded into shape. Mark, I wouldn't try to go to Old Camp. it's an 8 mile out and back, 4 each way. You would not be back till dark if we left at 3:30. Remember daylight savings will be over by then.
Yeah good idea Gene I told you if you posted it they would come in droves. Let's pack Cooks with mountain bikers the night of the 10th.:bang::beer:
I might be in just for the ride part. I moved into the area within the last year so this will be all new for me. I have a feeling this will making Whiting worth riding again. Just how technical is the Luge again? I'm on a 63mm hardtail.
Don't worry it will be dark so you won't see the exposures. Since the fires very few of us know it's condition. Dean
Is this a route that mortals single speed? I'm always hesitant to hit a new trail with the fully rigid SS first.
you sandbagger.. you won't have any problems riding your ss there. modjeska grade is a crappy road climb but its short.. there is one other section referred to as "puke hill" that is a lung buster, but you can take a break before and after it and enjoy the views of OC
i've never ridden with you so i don't know your skill level but you can get an idea of what the luge is like by checking out this video that Winston put together a while back http://www.chainedrevolution.com/members/winston/videos/Luge-102305.mpg
OMG Puke Hill. I almost forgot about that section. It took me years. Years to clean that SS. Droves?! Oh man think if I start at 6pm all the Daywalkers will be done? Or you can just search some of the online video hosting sites. Someone has a very nice post fire video of the luge.
