I was up there about six weeks ago and some sections on the backside of Strawberry peak were extremely loose, combined with long drops I walked a few sections. And yes, it will be pretty hot.

Typical San Gabes in July-hot, loose, exposed....hmmm, reminds me of a girl I once knew.

Did Strawberry about 3 weeks ago, ride was great, sucked in and spit out some black flies/airborn bugs every time I started climbing and breathing hard. The bugs were fierce and relentless in your face up there, watch out for horse flies.

I'm freezing one bladder and sandwiching it between my back and my other bladder. This has a local cooling effect-until it melts.
I'm actually hydrating as we speak. I'll probably have to pee all night!
Every forecast so far has been 5 degrees over what actually happened. I know Jackie Johnson is great to look at but....

I'm hydrating right now as well. Do you think a 6-pack is enough or should I make it a twelver?

I'm just keeping it to a couple of pints. Any more than that and I may have trouble waking up so damn early!

Go easy guys, the route kicked my arse last time and I'm hoping it's because I just haven't been riding enough.

Pacing, not racing. That will be my MO.

I promise to detour to my favorite swimming hole near the end of the ride!

68 degrees at the bottom of the Crest at 6:45am. 82 at Switzers 15 minutes later. Knowing Kanga, the RR should be out this evening. Kanga, Rossage and a few others stopped at a secret swimming hole on the last leg.
