This is such a simple explanation.

Obviously the Tarantula Hawks are grabbing the crayfish and dropping them on trail to bait out the Tarantulas.

    This isn't rocket science folks.

Dude, I just played that song while watching the vid! The T-Hawk's steps sync well with the drums. Fitting indeed.

    Brew,

Thanks for the you-tube clip of the T-hawk. I have always wanted to see one in action. As far as the mud bugs, I've seen them a couple of times strewn across the trail in route to Bobcat at CHSP. I don't get it. Migration to better waters or kids collecting them? I don't know. By the way, how cool would it be to see crayfish migrating across dirt?

Maybe someone threw a crayfish boil and didn't eat them all? Happened to me once, but I didn't drop off the extras at a trail!

Well, if they would have invited me to that crayfish boil they wouldn't have had left overs.

They don't eat them. They lay an egg on them ,the larvee eats them. Mother hawk flys off and dies. Also she has to drag them to her hole ,the tranula is bigger and she can't fly.

awsome pic of the T hawk, I hate those bastards but its cool to see them in action. Ill take spiders of Tarantulas any day. Where those crayfish anyewhere near that bridge on lower A I know there are some deeper pools that hide out near that bridge and alot of animals burrow into the mud until fall

I was quite suprised to see a tarantula hawk in action today. Just plowing up baleen wall in Cheeseboro and there she was dragging her victim across the fireroad. I don't like big insects heh. The first time i saw a potato bug is creeped me out.

We were at hiking in Castaic once and seen a T hawk pulling a t for over a half mile. Finally she pulled the T down into a crevice and that's where we parted ways.

Another time I had a hawk land on my arm. She only stayed for a few seconds but didn't sting me. I understand they have one of the most painful of all insects stings.
