I might have to work late but if I'm able to attend I'll bring the ultimate in trailside tire repair.

    I'm planning on attending.

Fork rebuilds at an event like this can get really messy, but I may be able help those who want to do Rock Shox or Fox fork rebuilds. Because I don't do a lot of them these days, I do forget some specifics on some different forks. So make sure to print out the service procedures on the fork manufacturer's web sites, including torque specs and fluid volumes. Hopefully, I'll remember to bring a fluid measuring device. Also, make sure that you or the shop has all the necessary fluids, seals, and other misc. parts as needed. Bring a bottle of isopropyl alcohol for cleanup.

Brake bleeds...these also tend to get messy at these events. Unless they're Shimano brakes, I don't want to help you work on them. On the other hand, if you have Shimano brakes, they probably don't have any problems and don't need to be bled, anyway. If you have any other brand of brake, make sure to print out the service procedures. And again, make sure you or the shop has the bleed kit and the correct brake fluid. Also bring a bottle of isopropyl alcohol for cleanup.

I'm sure that someone may also be able to help with minor wheel truing.

Suspension setup discussions, derailleur cable replacement, and bottom bracket replacement are all quite common at these clinics, and there's usually a number of people who can help you out with any of these.

There's usually a lot going on at these events, and there's often limited work space, but that's part of what makes them really quite fun. Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that your bike will get worked on, since this should really be about learning how to do the service, not just getting your bike fixed for free.

    So who's bringing the pizza?

I'm interested in attending. Neither of my bikes need servicing, but would still like to come and learn by watching.

Is beer allowed? (I would bring some to share . . .)

I would like to be there if it still has few seats. I need to learn how to replace the front derailleur cable. My bike has been sitting in the garage for few weeks crying.. :(

    Lee: Well written post!

To repeat: The goal of this (hands-on) Clinic is to teach students how to make BASIC repairs to their bicycles.
Basic = Adjustment and replacement of derailler cables, chain removal, brake pad adjustment and installation, bottom bracket removal, chainring and cassette installation, singlespeed setup, suspension setup, tire installation, tubeless conversion etc.

    With regard to brake service...
-There will be an official brake bleed/rebuild demonstration.
-Most instructors are less than thrilled with the idea of servicing brakes (messy, always seem to find additional problems)

With regard to fork service (fork seals / oil replacement)...

-There will be an official fork service demonstration. (JSD's Fox Fork)
-Most instructors are less than thrilled with the idea of servicing forks (messy, always seem to find additional problems)

With regard to Fox (rear) air shock service...
FB has plenty of shock seals in stock. Super-simple way to make your bike feel new again

*If (at the end of the event) our instructors offer to help students with brake / fork repairs.... we won't stop them! :)

I'll probably be in learning mode most of the night, but would be willing to stick my nose in and help out wherever I can otherwise.

BTW since I don't drink I'll bring along some sodas, any requests?
