I was waiting for someone to start a thread, but hey, I'll do it.

The honorable Dino Brown called on the minions of STR to gather at the Alicia lot at 8:30am Sunday. Scores of riders heeded the call and descended upon the venerable park for some two-wheeled merriment.

I have no idea who all was there - but at different times, and not necessarily riding together, I saw Sir Smack-a-lot, Mex-i-can, Revalimage, Formula1Fan, a youngster named Vince (was this Grego's Vince?) and many whose screen names I can't quite place. Also along my venture I saw mfoga, pmortuary, Me and My Bike and dozens more. Sorry I didn't write them all down. There was also a large group of Trail Angels and a substantial group of Bike Skills students at the bottom of Mathis.

I was kind of riding on my own program with a non-STR buddy, so I'm not sure what stories there are to tell and what routes everybody rode. My buddy and I did the usual stuff - Cholla-Lynx-Cholla-Rock-It-Mathis-Meadows.

So the thread is started. If you were there - chime in and tell us about it, or better yet, show us.

Rachel made me ride the Single Speed - wicked I tell you, she's wicked! Great way to flush out any remaining flu bugs.

Got there late (blame it on teen boy) - no parking, OCMoto sent me to to the school, send the kid down and as I take off to get to the group ... rear flat - D'oh! Uber quick fix, Ray and Rach waited with the kid, and we had some chasing to do to catch the group - then there were many other sighting on the way that side tracked us.

Got MFoga and P2 hugs out of the shuttle truck (SO many others too), some superX chatting with Mike to make me forget the pain up to top of the world. Tire bumps from Chris and his buddy, hugs to a few Trail Angels too.

Take away for the day, miss so many faces, wish I could see you all more. Cholla blows on a SS and Meadows is fun on anything with two wheels! The extra credits up west ridge are still more fun than the fire road around - regardless of gears or not.

Fun lunch time visits - awesome candy store hit!

Like my kid said, 'we really need to do this more often'.

I will share my thoughts tomorrow...

For now, I just wanted to thank everyone for attending the ride. I was in shock how many people showed up. Weather was perfect. A large percentage of first-time (Aliso) riders...

-No doubt we will be making a return trip in the near future! :)

-The next "Fun Ride" is scheduled for Saturday, February 1st!
    Intermediate group ---> Blackstar!
Advanced group -------> Blackstar / Motorway!

It was nice seeing the FB crew again (Dino, Andre, Charlie and Mike) there were so many new faces it was hard to keep track! The ride was blessed with very few hikers today. I still can't get over how fast Mike is riding that Anthem. Dino's HD is sick! Herzalot went exploring on his own but somehow managed to reappear out of thin air. LOL.

NIGHTHAWK - you were appearing, disappearing and reappearing as well. And by Charlie, do you mean Zerogravity was there?

I thought Aliso would also be mobbed with hikers from what I've heard but not the case today. Some sure but not a lot. Not like Turnbull. More MTB's than ever especially with three different groups going on. Thanks for the invite Dino, we can finally check Aliso off our bucket list (now for San Juan). Following Andre on his 7k$ demo was cool. Cholla was fun, we love the climb! I don't think we made the 5 minute club. Dropping the little bench at top of the world with Hoosierdaddy was bitchen. Missed some good stuff though so we'll be back. Great seeing everyone today. Didn't see Charlie. Yeah Herz, that was Vincent. We saw you pass by, said hi but I don't think you heard me.

Wow I was blown away on how many guys and gals showed up.. FULL HOUSE! It was a joy to see some of the expressions on a few guys faces after they hit rocket and meadows! As Dino said your head will fall off. I think there is a lot of people that have not been outside of the loop and Chino and when they do they go nuts… Chuck had so much fun after lunch he want back for 3 more hours of fun! GREAT ride and so awesome to see a full house roll out on the ride..

See you at the next one

I said hi to Vincent at the top of Meadows and told Julie, Ray and Dino about following Vincent (who was following Ryan) at Snow Summit. He was a little preoccupied with making sure the coast was clear for a solid GoPro edit on Meadows without running into traffic, so I went ahead of him. Hopefully, he waited a while since there were definitely some cautious riders about halfway down that I carefully picked my way around, and a few more towards the bottom that I just sat behind (without pressuring, I hope). Sorry I didn't acknowledge a howdy from you.

Post Vincent's edit if it comes out good.

Thanks for the planning Dino. My brother in-law and his two sons had a great time out there in some new dirt.

LOL - yes, I started the thread 'cause I'm hopelessly addicted to STR and wanted to hear what everyone had to say about their ride. My group-ride anxieties kept me from actually riding with the group, however.

And - I'm always happy, dammit
