Well I guess I'll start off this ride report by saying thank you to Allison for setting this thing up.

About 60 people showed up so obviously there will be multiple ride reports mixed in this thread. My family and I had a blast with a nice mix of camping, riding and socializing.

The weather was ideal for riding with temps in the 60s during the day. But at night it got cuh-cuh-cuh-cold. With so many people we couldn't all fit around one firepit so we had at about a half dozen mini-parties going each night. Kristine and I tried to socialize and circulate as best we could with two kids in tow. But once they were asleep...woohoo! It was really great getting to meet and hang out with so many cool STR folks. Thanks to everyone for making this weekend so much fun.

Here's just a teaser while I prep the rest of the photos...

    Awesome weekend

We had an awesome weekend!! Thanks to the Mann's for iinstigating the gig. We haven't camped in 6 years but we managed to resurrect all our gear and headed out Friday afternoon. Got there in time to set up camp and do a Sunset ride too. Saturday we headed out with Donna as our ring leader and ended up putting in 24.77 miles. Today went on the Mann ride and did 16.67 miles. Just finished lunch and are on our way back home. I'll let the Denmother post the details!

Nothing bonds friends like a meal, drinks and dessert, (can you say Somemores) on a cold night gathered outdoors around a campfire in the mountains. Great RR pics.

These RR will all get merged together, so I will continue on with this one.

Very fun weekend. Always love camping out at Hurkey.

By the time I got out there Friday night, it was close to 10:30pm. It was cold, but it didn't feel that cold. Got the tent setup in the back of the truck and by that time was around 12:00-12:30.

Hoped in the sleeping bag, that is when it hit me that it was pretty damn cold..... didn't have too much trouble falling asleep.....at least once the really noisy campsite finally quieted down:?:.

Got up and had no intention of going on the "A" group ride. So along with the rest of the Switchback crew, KeepsWhatHappens, SingletrackAngel, BrendaGilbert, Mrs. Mtnbikej and some others....not really good with names......we headed off to take a loop around the 24hr course.

The running water on the first climb out of the campground has done a number on it......lots of ruts and sand. We usually camp there later in the summer so there is no running water in the creek. Seemed odd to ride through the mud on the first climb.

All got to the top of the meadow and decided to do a little exploring. Rode some singletrack off to the left of the fireroad before you continue down the 24hr course. We then ran into Mr. Hobbs, who I loaned my backup bike to......turns out he cracked his frame on the first climb.

At the hard 180 degree turn that splits the 24 hrs course, half the group returned straight down to camp while the rest of us continued on to complete the course.

Started out on a night ride last night....was actually warmer on the trail than at camp. Turned around early....the ride was way over one of the riders' head.

Got up this morning and went out to do Southridge Trail.......wow.....what a trail. Think it is my new favorite.

Got back with about 30 minutes to get packed, loaded and out before 1:00.

Was kind of nice to just kick back and relax...meet some new people......and chill.

What a great weekend! I had a blast riding with all my new (and old) MTB friends. We did the 24 hour course (from what they tell me) and the singletrack was so much fun. Didn't expect to be able to breathe at 4900 feet, but was enjoying the smiles and the trail too much to worry about catching my breath. Campfires and smores with everyone was terrific. Want the family to come next time, and at least enjoy the views (and to help me keep warm at night). Yea!

Had a great time! Great to meet new people, see old friends and do a little campground riding!

While most were out riding all day on Sat a few of us stayed back with the kids. Mrscalepic, Trouble, Brian (calepics son) Maddie and myself went for our own ride. We followed the kids, did a few stream crossings and even taught the kids that *poaching is bad* (they had rode off the trail). Fun day for us!

    Sorry no pictures.....

Thanks Allison for setting this up - We Adams had a great time!

    My RR from Hurkey Creek

So my buddy Greg(Luna), his family, and myself all joined everyone in Hurkey Creek for the weekend. Man, what a blast it was to hang out with a bunch of cool people and ride some awesome trails. We got there early Friday and did a couple hours of riding that afternoon and then had some dinner and socialized with some fellow STR members. Did an excellent ride Saturday, made our way up to Ernie Maxwell, then up the dirty, mean, nasty climb that is Southridge Fire Road, it was worth it for the descent though, then hit up Snakeskin and Exfoliator and back to camp, more dinner and socializing. Then today we did a quick ride that included most of the 24Hr course. I want to thank everyone for coming and making this such a great weekend. Everyone was extremely nice, helpful, and just fun to be around. Special thanks go out to Dean for his great knowledge of the trails and pointing us in the right direction. Later.
    Enjoy the pics:
