STR members came out in force this weekend to buff out the Luge and the STT..

Saturday morning we hit the Luge, and repaired all of last week's damage, along with some ongoing problems. Maxwell and his buddy Dan, dirtvert, pedalboy and I worked from the bottom up, and had the trail totally rideable by noon.

24 hours later, CalEpic, Revalimage, draheim18, Soul_Control, ridefruita, and I headed up the STT from Modjeska Grade. We cleared rockfall, improved drainage, and re-established singletrack through a couple mudslides, from the gate to the big switchback (about 2 miles). I had walked the rest of the way to the flag on Friday, and the rocky descent is a bit scoured and wet, but rideable, so we left it alone.

Thanks to STR, the STT/ Luge loop is fully rideable, even after a week of hard rain, mudslides and rockfall.

I was glad to help. It was fun to give back to The Luge, especially after riding it every Thursday night for about two months straight. In the top photo we were hoping to add a new berm on the trail. We'll have to see if things firmed up enough for it to hold. Happy Trails! :)

Rode the STT to the Luge and all in all it was in great shape. Watch out for the muddy sections, they are SLICK! Pretty cool to hear the water running down in the bottom of the canyon. If you stop in some of the turn outs, you can hear the water running down the faces of the mountains across the way...pretty cool!!

I saw a lot of cool waterfalls in the canyon below Vulture Crags on Friday, during the rain. The Luge was still wet tonight, as water seeps onto the trail from the slopes above it. Makes parts of the 'Luge' like the Log Ride at Knotts Berry Farm.

I took a pretty high line on it tonight-- you know, for testing purposes only..

Passed by the trailworkers Sunday afternoon. Thanks for all of the hard work! The section of the trail between the flag and Old Camp is actually in good shape with only a few puddle area that can be avoided. The upper portion held up better than the lower portion.

It was really great to blaze up the trail with STR riders, and get it back in prime shape in a couple half days of work!

I'm so thankful the Forest Service trusts us to take care of the trails we love.

And it was good to meet and work with fellow riders, some I've met on the trail, and others from this site.

Thanks again to all who came out, and to STR for the support,

    Jim aka kioti

You guys are awesome!! I've always wondered who takes care of trail maintenance. I would be interested in finding out how I can give back to the trails that have done so much for me (minus the falls and scars) =0)
