At the request of many I've modified the poll adding some new trails. I had to start a new thread so everyone could vote.

I've posted a ride for December 13th for the STR birthday ride and dysfunctional family reunion. I'm not sure where to have it so please vote in the poll, based on the results we will have a place to ride.

    Please RSVP

Based on the number of riders we will probably split up into different groups so please let me know if you are willing to lead a group.

Sycamore Cny is beautiful, with plenty of Epic trails, Ocean views and single tracks
If you choose his location, perhaps I can help you set up the BBQ at the campsite.

Vail is too far for me and probably a lot of the OC people. (my two cents) One thing that made the birthday bash so fun last year is it was all levels friendly..... Chino was okay last year I thought.... BUT I voted for Irvine since there are all of the options there.....huckers go up to oaks, newbs climb the water tower....all others looking for x-credit head to Peters. Boring maybe...but all accessible in case of emergency, and very central for most :)

I closed the other thread at the request of Pugz. I moved some of the post to this new thread. Go ahead re-vote and RSVP again if you haven't already.

I'll respectfully disagree about using Borrego Overview Park, though a Whiting and/or Stt+Luge location would be fine by me. Borrego is a small location in a residential neighborhood. Sure, we could fit 50 or 100 STR-crazed MTBers there, but parking is all on the street in front of people's homes, and if the turnout is large we would likely generate resentment in the neighborhood and a lot of us might be walking/riding when we have to park a few streets down. Plus I don't recall any restrooms there. (?) If we want to ride Whiting, I think we'd need a different base camp. Concourse is the only other park in the area that I'm familiar with, and it also lacks restrooms.

Aliso or Chino would each work. They may be overly familiar to many of us, but they accessible, friendly to a wide variety of riders, and have at least the basic facilities needed. And paying a few dollars for parking when we may show up in large numbers seems like a fair and responsible thing to do to support our parks and trails.

    My $.02

For those that are not familiar with Vail. I would not choose that location. It is not a bad place to ride if you are close. Sycamore is much better IMO, furthermore the folks at Vail would probably want everyone to pay. That should be looked it to for sure.

A call has already been made i'm just waiting for a call back:
It will cost $ just not sure how much - It would be for renting the use of their facilites for bbqing and whatnot.

    http://www.socaltrailriders.org/forum/showpost.php?p=403299&postcount=27

As Dean had pointed out - Cost and miles don't always stop the masses from enjoying a nice day with STR - Plenty (60+) made the drive to Big Bear - they paid $10 to ride the lift, $ for gas, $ for food, some paid $ to stay the weekend and several donated $ for the cost of the park rental for the day $60.00 (that I had initially paid for out of my own pocket).

ps. I still voted for Sycamore (even thought there is no place to BBQ/hang-out after the ride)

Ottoman is referring to Sycamore Canyon located within Pt. Magu State Park! North of Malibu; Ocean front camping, hiking and epic all day riding. A great place to ride for shure, but probably not what these guys are talking about.

Sycamore Canyon/Pt. Magu State Park might be a place to consider if this was a two day riding and camping trip.

I think STR should bust out all the stops and do the SART. Barton Flats is open year round to BBQ at. I can think of many different routes for nearly any skill level.
