Justin's 3rd wheel, the guy still riding in the back/middle.

Crazy that he rode it the entire way! The lap I saw he charged it, rode a bit, then hopped off an ran. That was some deep sand. Did Lawill ride it, any of the Elite men? Not sure the women did?

Thanks. I wasn't camped out at the sand pit, so don't know about Lawwill. Saw 3 or 4 laps of the elite women pass through, but didn't see anyone make it. Most dismounted right away, though after the first lap when things were pretty spread out, some riders charged in full speed and rode as far as they could before running. Really challenging.

on sunday the fastest elite men were dismounting 1/2 way through (DT and I watched a few laps over there). the amazing part of that is they made dismounting, at speed, in sand, look super smooth. great display of control.

Ben Berden, Trebon and Wells all rode it one time or another. Berden is Belgian, it's in his blood to be good in sand.

Actually the guy next to Johnny (in Spy gear) is ex-DH pro Phil Tintsman, who is now a crazy fast road/cross racer, and nice guy.

I had never met Phil before but he is very fast! (and also seemed very nice when I talked to him briefly after the race) Phil and Johnny were both going very fast on Saturday!

Hands down. Phil is one of the coolest guys you'll meet. Probably known him 15 years, solid dude.
