OK, I am going to do the XC race. With this big of response it must be worth it. I am going to bring one more person. She wants to try this racing thing out. She will be racing sport.

I see that there is a Super D race in the afternoon. What is that?

Where do you live, maybe you can find a ride with someone else who is coming out?

    Super D

Here is the definition from USA Cycling:

    Super D (SD)

A hybrid event combining aspects of downhill and cross-country racing. Riders race on a course that is significantly more downhill than uphill, is devoid of jumps, and not extremely technical.

    XC Update

    This just in from KOKE:

I rode Southridge yesterday and spoke to Don Jackson out on the course. All of the course changes are marked with either arrow signs or the old direction is blocked with brush or stones. All of the old steep, loose, rutted downhill sections have been slightly re-routed. Don has buffed-out 75% of the rain induced ruts (the rest will be gone by Saturday) and the rain has tampered-down the sandy sections. The race Saturday will be fast because of the great trail conditions.

No, but I will check it out tomorrow when I am there. I usually go walk the DH course in the afternoon after it's taped.

    Just do it!

To all those who have never raced and are considering doing so.. Just go for it! Racing is a ton of fun! I've only ever raced at Fontucky, but I really loved each time I've made it out there.. Even those times when I placed last in my class ;)

Having people you don't even know cheering you on really motivates you, especially along that wall.. regardless of how out of breath you are by that point. :)

So yeah, stop debating and go do it!

    That's BS, man!

What happened to what you said today in this PM after I mentioned that I've been sick?

What kind of example are you trying to set to Brandon?

    OWNED!!!!

Heck, it's no big deal to ride in the same race as O'mara and Arnet...it's not like you're going to be keeping up with them, anyway. And if you are at their pace...well :-k...well :-k...aren't you lucky to have such a Gucchi carbon fiber Giant with disc brakes.

But there's no shame in DFL as long as you're having fun. Maybe replace your water bottles with beer bottles? Heck, do a lap nekkid...that'd be interesting! (just don't ride with one of those seats that has a slit in the middle).

If you take a look at the last race at Southridge, you'll find I had the second fastest time overall on the day. Then if you look at THE overall fastest time, you'll find a 10 minute gap between O'Mara and me. Point: one doesn't really "ride with" Johnny O'Mara.

By the way, Brandon, do you need a light for tonight's ride?

Personally, I think you hardly get your money's worth doing only one lap, so you should race sport. We're going to park at Von's tonight, I'll wear a helmet light and just transfer it to your bars, if you show
