    awesome thread, hahaha.

This is what I have learned so far:
    - People want a bike park
    - People have opinions about the park without knowing everything/anything
    - No one really knows anything about said park
    - Some peoples feeling get hurt
    - Some people like to use this thread as a means to brag about non-mtb stuff
    - Some people update the thread with helpful info as it comes in
    - one bored person likes to summarize the thread

All I know, is that I am up there a lot and think that anything new will be better than nothing new. oh ya, I put time in helping out with the trails, so I have skin in this as well.

What I do know is back when Snow Summit's mountain was open to bikes, all of the better trails were out of bounds anyways.

$299 seems like a fair price. I had summer passes back in the 90's and they were $150 to $175 if I remember correctly. I went almost every weekend so I got my money's worth. Still have a few of the old SS summer passes sitting in my toolbox. If Summit can pull this off, it would be great.

I thought $26 was kinda high for just riding the Snow Summit lifts to the FS trails.

Mammoth is $45 for a pretty amazing park.

Although it is closer, If Snow Summit approaches Mammoth pricing for only 3-4 bike park trails, that would be tough to swallow.

I got my moneys worth from last years pass also. I was up their 6 or 7 weekends last year, before my season was cut short.

I'm optimistic about this, and see summits move to expand their mt biking as similar to what snowboarding was back when it picked up momentum in the early to mid 90's. Sure it will start off small, but given enough support a summit/bearmountain bike park has the potential. GL is a reputable park builder and can do amazing things, however they are not magicians and need a reasonable amount of time to work their trail mojo.

It was posted somewhere in another thread long not forgotten that Gl will have 3 new trails come opening and 3 more that they will be working on. It will be pretty cool to see the strava times on these new trails. Who will be KOM?

Recent pic of GL in bear.

I would agree. When I first started racing at SS, the trails were fun because the bikes were not so advanced. A 3 inch travel Judy DH was considered a downhill fork. As the bike suspension technology quickly progressed, the trails at SS stayed the same, so people started riding the "bandit trails". I think had SS left the race courses open after a race more people would have stayed on the SS trails. The dual slalom course was fun but only open on race day. Hopefully, SS will have a nice mix of trails this time.

For those who are planning to buy a pass for summit here some great news!! Just got an e-mail from them earlier today.

"Season passes have been reduced to $250 because we are starting small and building throughout the summer season."

Exactly the point. Yes, Mammoth may be the same price, but it is also a 6 hour drive and you have to pay for a hotel room. The riding is better, but the overall cost is MUCH higher once you add everything in. You will be able to use the Snow Summit pass 2-3X as much as a Mammoth pass making the per day cost much lower.

Or if you really think it is outrageous then don't buy one. Maybe they will lower the price, or maybe demand will be so high that they raise it. Demand will dictate.

$250.....so if a regular pass was $25.....go more than 10 times. Otherwise just get the regular pass. Whats the problem here?

    from their facebook:

"Mountain Bike Park opening day May25th! USFS has given the go! We will first be opening with the Miracle Mile Trail, an advanced run for experienced mountain bikers that will include upper level features such as step ups, banked turns, bridges and more. As the year continues we plan to open up more trails on the west side of the mountain including a Blue trail with intermediate features and eventually a Green trail for beginners that offers a gradual and comfortable riding experience. Our summer crew will be out on the trails all summer maintaining the features and building additional trails. This is a big project that we plan to continue over the next 5 years. Gravity Logic has been here designing the layout of the trails and if you know about them then you are aware of how fun these trails are going to be!"
