They are out if you look over at empty beer.

If Mullarks is at Fontana we can see if he will let you ride his, plus I believe he tested the dropouts he would have the new ones.

not many people testing those new dropouts besides kidwoo, RTW and other intense insiders. the machinist actually had some testers flake on him so it delayed the testing process a bit. but i agree with some of the other guys, a socom may be the bike to go with since you can run a dual crown or single crown fork on it and with the two dropouts you can run one for race or one for more freeride type riding. only problem will be price on the frame

David, are you looking for a DH worthy trail bike or a dedicated DH bike? If you're looking for a DH worthy trail bike, look at the SlopeStyle. If you're looking for a dedicated DH bike then go with a Socom or M6.

My Slope Style is 36 lbs. I've got it set up as a 2x9 with a seat dropper so I can raise the seat for the ups or flats. I mostly use it for DH but can climb on it. The low BB can be a pain at first but once you ride it a few times you learn how to manage that issue (just like working out the quirks on any new bike)

    Good Luck with your decision.
fwiw: My SS has acutally got me back out riding my bike and doing it the fun way!! I love it and can't say that enough!!

Tracy, based on the weight of your SS, I'm guessing you have it set up more for DH. Right now, Ko's SlopeStyle weighs in at 33 pounds (with Joplin post and no titanium springs). My SlopeStyle in trail bike form (with Speedball post and ti spring) is under 34 pounds - I run heavier tires and a few heavier duty parts than Ko. Both bikes have dual rings and coil forks.

When I ride at Summit, the bike is a tick over 35 pounds (ok, about 36), but that's with 2.5 UST Maxxis tires for much greater pinch flat resistance and traction. However, in case they gripe about my pound over, I always bring a normal seat post, a lighter bashguard (along with a 3rd chainring), and a couple other parts to lighten it as needed (I won't give up my tires ;)).

getting a non-qualifying bike on the lifts at BB was always an exercise in social engineering. make the bike look as XC as possible, which still being completely DH. my reign NEVER qualified completely (it was about a half pound heavy, had .5" too much travel, only one ring). raise the seat before you roll up to the lifts, rock some clipless pedals and not-so-baggy shorts, and hide the goggles. worked like a charm

I had my trek if all else failed though. and bringing the guy loading bikes a snickers at lunch didn't hurt either ;)

that said, my reign is built for DH. I could easily drop it down to a rather nice 32lbs or so without sacrificing too much in the way of rideability, (or my lovely tires). I wouldn't feel quite as comfy abusing it, but it would be light...

dedicated DH bike. Something for Fontana (now that the race season is half over #-o ). I should probably look into the Socom, but the idea of having something that can pedal around is appealing. I got my xc fix with another Air 9 on order, so something gravity worthy has my attention (or i just buy a road bike and wait until the fall to build up a dh bike for next race season).
