Ride Report Sladnas/Daley Ranch Newbie Ride

Thanks....i can't believe I made it up that on my first try...my wheels felt like they weighed about 75lbs each after the thick cake batter several hundred yards earlier...I love granny gear

 

I had a great time. I always enjoy riding with the STR gang. I was happy to see Mark get his bike and to meet a few more folks. Thanks to all who set this up. I know Doug was bummed he missed the ride, but everything happens for a reason.

Kind of got a little confusing on the ride though. I thought I was in "A", then I realized I was in "B", then I was in "A" again. Next time I'll just hang with "C", those folks always seem to know what's going on.

I was truly amazed with the trail, and I found that one steep lose rocky very steep fireroad descent to be very fun. I'm still trying to figure out how I made it through that???

Denmother, I had to send her back up the fireroad because she is getting so damn fast it's hard to focus when she comes blasting by!

My favorite bike of the ride...It was hard to pick between Neils and Mikes, but Mike's just seemed to say "Old School", so much more. Man these two bikes are sweeeeet...



And what's a mountain bike without some carnage? Denmother was trying to pedal up cardiac hill and I managed to get in her way and stop her cold, but she didn't let that stop her. She got back on the bike and started up again, but this time I got out of the way. She was going good and I turned around to watch her come up and just then it looked like she slipped a pedal and down she went, right smack on top of a big ol rock, she nailed it....

Thanks for posting the great pictures. Congrats on the new layout on your site. I noticed it a few days back. I can't wait for you to get all that new content posted you told me about.

I just talked to Mark and he said that most of the group bypassed the singletrack called Coyote and stayed on the fire road. That's too bad. Coyote is second only to Bobcat, IMHO.

 

I'd like to apologize to everyone who was within earshot of my
screaming "F***ing A!" at the top of my lungs as I slid and slipped through the slimy mud pit. It was a miracle of the baby Jesus that I managed to stay upright on my bike.

I turned a corner and almost ran over three people walking their bikes and I thought to myself, "now that's a silly place to walk a bike. well, that's just downright dangerous. oh look. there's another one. someone really oughta tell these folks not to ---- F***ing A!".

Sometimes I talk like a truck driver. I apologize. I normally try to keep it in check, but apparently, mud pits bring it out in me.

 

on, yet off topic question here.......someone at the BBQ later had a cooler with an Amnesty International sticker on it. If that was you or you know who it is, please send me a PM...nice to see other HR activists hitting the trails!
