Hub Cyclery in Idyllwild is hosting a big bike expo with rides, food and music at the end of August. They will have Intense, Crank Brothers, Wingnut and a few other companies up.

Hey Nancy, thanks for posting this.
We think this can be a great opportunity to try out new stuff in the mountains, on trails... but fairly close to home.

    Some highlights:
Intense Cycles: will be bringing a run of M9's, and the all-new Carbine (launched barely a week ago in Park City) as well as the newly redesigned Spider 29, which looks to be a very cool bike. They're from Temecula.
Siren Bicycles (that's us, too!): We'll have a dozen or so of our bikes at the Summit, from the Song 29, to the John Henry and our new twin tubed soul-machine, the Twinzer. All these bikes are built here in Idyllwild. Some are available for demo, some aren't...
Zoic Clothing: will have a wide selection of their comfortable, stylish stuff on hand. Out of San Diego.
Homebrewed Components: batch built, super well thought out bike parts made here in Southern California, in Escondido.
Crank Brothers: Gorgeous, smart design. Bike parts designed in Laguna Beach.
Revelate Designs: Bikepacking gear from Alaska. We'll have a static display set up with Revelate gear, and also a Bikepacking Clinic to teach you how to use it later in the day.
Wingnut Gear: Super nice packs for riding & endurance events. Made in New York.

    Tentative Schedule:
8am Vendors set up at The HUB Cyclery
9am... first ride goes off. Riding the good stuff in May Valley.
Shuttle pickups at Hurkey 11am, and Noon

Noon... Grill & Chill at the shop. Live Music (Blue-Country-Rock) by Terry Oakey

    More rides... demos available
    3pm Bikepacking Clinic
early evening... Screening of Life Cycles

Hope to see y'all on the mountain!
    -Brendan

That looks really cool! If SWMBO doesn't make any plans, I'll try to get up there.

I'd love to ride with some locals up there. Sounds like fun, and it would be cool to support another shop.

Right on. Also, if you're not already familiar, we do a weekly ride out of the shop every Saturday at 8am. We tend to alternate between the Hub trails behind Idyllwild Arts and the May Valley system.

I'm coming up for this. Sounds like a great event and a chance to ride the new Carbine. May campout at Hurkey. Friday or stay in town.

Looking like I'll be able to make it! Pretty exciting - I've only been riding in the area once, and I need more.

Consider camping at Mt San Jacinto State Park. It's right in town and a cool place to camp. With all the riding going off around the hub, etc it would be a good alternative place to stay (places for food, drinking, shopping, etc).

For those that have wanted to get in on the Rocknical Technical, ther'll be plenty of that on the rides throughout May Valley so come on up and get your tech on!

I'm in, along with wife and kids (who might just cruise around town, they're not mtb'ers).

    Count one here.

Please turn on the cloud machine on Friday and kick down the heat a couple notches. TIA!

I'll camp at S. Ridge Yellow Post. Holler if you see a big ass beige Ford van with beers being drained somewhere near it.

Should be a good mix of all sorts of stuff. Just let us know what you are focused on for Saturday and we'll point you in the right direction.
Depending on how many people come out, I may fire off a technical play day down below the art school focusing on climbing rocks and sessioning a short 5 mile run so people can practice their tech skills. We'll see.

There are bound to be many rides going off on Saturday and I'm thinking of a possible Thomas Mountain run on Sunday early afternoon (10am-ish).

I can't believe there's only 2 RSVP's on the calendar, and one is a local from Idyllwild. If your planning to attend please post up and help these folks be prepared to provide a killer day of riding and other events.

Are there any decent (flat, easy) places near the center of festivities for non-mtb'ers to ride? Parks, trails, etc. close by? It would be cool if I could spend some "dad time" riding with my wife and boys while up there.
