    I need to take it easy...probably just the 5.5.

    If I build up the next steed as planned, I will no longer have need for my 6.6 or my VPX (although I'll be using most of the parts from the 6.6). My VPX will probably be for sale soon. :(

    We can talk! I have a 3/4 completed VPX sitting in my garage though.....
    What NEW bike are you looking at?

    Back to the single speed thread.... chain tensioner, road cassette, 18t, chainlines etc...

    Funny you mention that...I have a brand new Surly Singulator that I was trying to sell at the swap meet for only $20, and no one took me up on it.

    They do make spacers but I dont think we need them. All the spacing will be done with the hub, spokes and cranks.

    Here is a 20 tooth

    Thanks Coleko. I was under the impression that Shimano only made 16t, 17t, and 18t only. Also, Sheldon's site had another link for ACS 20t, and 22t available:

    http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/singlespeed.html

    Scroll down about half way. I have to return the SS kit to Performance today so I'm going to see if they have any in stock or at the LBSs around my area before I attempt a mail order.

    Coleko, I ended up getting an ACS 19t (dinner plate according to Neil :lol:) at Adrenaline since nobody had a 20t laying around in their shops. I can't imagine a single tooth making that much of a difference but I won't know until I ride it. I figure for $12 bucks it's not much of a big deal if I wanted to switch.

    I asked him about re-dishing and he mentioned it's not necessary but the chain line will look kinda strange and it won't be as strong versus a re-dish. Also, he mentioned he has yet to snap a SRAM PC-1 chain which is a plus.

    22t--now that's a satellite dish!!:lol::beer:

    I run a 20t now and keep meaning to put the 18t on, but I'm scared. I should buy a 19t and ease into it.

    A few of you knew I had issues removing the BB off my old bike to swap over to the SS. The BB is nearly new but the cartridge ring was frozen. A super soaking of WD-40, spin doctor splined adapter, breaker bar that I use for my car, PLUS a super long pipe provided the leverage I needed to pop that pain in the azz off. I never thought anyone would run into this problem until I googled for it last night. A zillion hits. :lol:

    With

    26" wheels and a 32x22 combo you should be able to climb up walls:bang:

    Wow, 32x22 with 26" wheels... I can see it now...pedalling at 100 rpm, and going 10 mph (I'm too lazy to do the math to find out what it really is).

    I first started singlespeeding with a 32x19, and I found that it spun out too much. I went to a 32x18, and I was still able to climb Mustard at Whiting and Cholla at Aliso. I still find the 32x18 to spin out on the flats too much. I wish my legs could pull a 17 (although I may try moving up to a 33 or 34...when my back is fully recovered).
