Just a short RR and a big Thank You to Craig (mtbbiker), Mike, and Gentry for taking the time to show us around out there. In our group we had: Myself, Pat, Mark, Roxy, and Blake. This place is great! Lots of techy single track w/ great flow and tons of drops and jumps to make it fun! We had a few tumbles.. I was cought blocking the trail on a rock drop and made Roxy bite the dust #-o Sorry Rox! All in all it was a great time! I wanna go back already!.. Some pics.....
I've been meaning to head over there and scope it out a bit more. Looks like you had a good time and nice pictures.
Simpson Park was amazing!! Endless trails w enough gnar to put miles of smiles on your face. Mark, I was ****in around so I got what I deserved (never stall on a rock drop), so no worries. You weren't in my way. If I would've stopped yelling "get out of my way" I would have been prepared to roll the drop...doh! I ran into Donna B...just crazy! Mark commented that some chick was gonna catch me. My response: **** her!! I turn around to check her out and it's Donna, "Queen of DH". "****in Bitch", I shout out. She's grinning ear to ear. Such a small world.... I'm w Mark; I can not wait to go back. Thanks again "wine/cow" country boys ... you have my respect. Mad gifted skills you boys have.
Looks epic! Wish I could have made this one...thanks a ton for the tour on Saturday...you guys are very strong riders....that loop is probably my favorite ride within an hr drive of my house now!
That's a great place, especially if it is snowing up in Idyllwild. It's also closer than Idy. A little gem in Hemet!!
Hey Mark, What are the screen names of your group? The 1st picture is Rock Pile, but I like to call the place Sacred Rocks! In the 1st picture Blake is constructing his own Sacred Rock stack & did a mighty fine job:clap:! The trail Gods will bless him. Here's a little story, we took Salespunk out here & he accidentally back into one of these Sacred Rock Piles & knocked them down! He did the best he could to re-stack them, but had left over rocks. He had 2 wicked crashes by the time he got down to the bottom:?:! I enjoyed taking your group for a tour, next time out we'll make the Polly Buttes Climb & have a super long down hill run! We ride PSP/Simpson park often, so PM me if you are interested in a ride. The ride is brutal, 15 miles out here feels like an all day effort. The climbs have sections that are extremely steep, but doable & the downs are just a blast! In my opinion, you are better off having myself or any other locals show you around, because there are many trails that zig zag all over, so it's not easy to give directions or even GPS routes. Thanks for the great pictures & an opportunity to meet new & fun fellow MTB riders! I hope to go on more epic journeys with you guys!
Pat here. Thanks for showing us around - it was a great ride! I look forward to doing the bigger route up to the Butte! That's exactly how I'd describe the route we took. A lot like interval riding - spiked heart-rates for a few minutes on the climbs, with terrific descents after every one.
Oh & I tried to keep an eye on Roxy, because I heard of what she did on the last ride out, but she disappeared several times during the group resting times. Hopefully she was admiring the views & not taking care of business:lol:
Mark is: Stinkyrider on STR Blake is not on STR. He is my Over the Hump XC racing Strava Junky ride buddy neighbor. Pat just posted. Redwoods on STR And you know Rox. We look forward to riding there often. Thanks for the invite for more.. We will take you up on it for sure!
I disappeared to change a plug...man, you guys are nosey!! (lol) And according to Blake, in his world, women don't crap; good thing I set him straight.
Craig et al, Super cool of you to show others Simpson. It's not for everybody, but if you like a little more tech in your XC, it's a great place to ride. I don't think I've done that rock drop into the sand box. I have an idea of where to look for it though.
Awesome pictures. Too bad this place is nearly 100 miles away from South Pas. But I would like to RSVP for the next simpson park ride! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yup! It's about 60 miles one-way for us, but I'd agree that it's worth it. Before it gets hot though.
