I got to go out today on my new rig. We started out the day late to the ride and missed the group, it's hard work getting the parents rolling in the morning. It took some pushing but we caught the group at the top of the hill at Euclid, thank goodness for the regroups. I got to ride with the group to the top of the greenbelt regroup and when we took off we were once again behind the group and the parents were riding too slow. We did get to check an accident on Rosecrans, way cool watching the tow trucks at work. After I cracked the whip again we caught the group at the top of the hill, but once again we were behind the group and after some yelling and cracking the whip again we caught the group at the golf course. We went down the hill and caught some air at the jump, my feet flew off the pedals, boy that was a little scary. After a quick stop to compose we finished the ride with a climb up the big hill, cactus-flower-cactus-flower slapped me in the face. Then down the steep hill, what fun!
After the ride I talked the parents to taking me to Hero's for some grub. I can't believe the size of those pancakes. I finished my stack but some of the other peeps couldn't finish theirs. Too much fun.
Thanks to everyone who rode, I had a good time. I plan to do more group rides if I can get the parents rolling in time.

Dino, sorry about the Joe's wiener crack

Carbonman and ShugaMama are Fully legends for two reasons:

    1) Red Tandem Ventana
    2) Pulling their young son behind them in a sweet custom trailer

When news came that STR's youngest member (i.e. Shuga) had "outgrown" his trailer, I wondered how life for this bike-pedaling family would change. :-k

Happy to say, it has changed for the... better!

*Shuga has his own bike now
*Shuga absolutely LOVES his new bike
*Shuga is pretty good at using a bike bell
    *Shuga loves "the ladies" :)
*As you can see from Shuga's post, his spelling is better than average (for a 3 year old)

    Oh yeah.. The pictures!

    Sooo funny...
Shuga was looking straight ahead until a group of FEMALE walkers caught his attention! Even if you manually turned his head, his eyes would have remained glued on... on... (cough...cleavage) :)

The only time Shuga "acted-up" was when we stopped pedaling
    "Come on Daaa-aaad, let's go"
    "Daaa-aaad let's go"

Shuga needs his own Geoladders account...
I'll bet he logs more miles (in one week) than 60% of the people reading this post
    [IMG]

The kid was in awe of the stream!

    (Steeper than it looks)

Got any pics? Progress Report? When ya' gonna bring the kids to the Loop? ;)

    That kid is awesome!!

I love seeing younger kids out riding their bikes and getting away from the computer/tv/game consoles.

During my road ride yesterday, I saw another younger kid (12-14 maybe) riding a rode bike behind his mom with what I'm assuming was his grandparents behind them. I just had to tell the mom how awesome it was seeing her son out there on a bike.

Dino, thanks for the pics. My old man is too busy trying to get Mom to pedal that he doesn't have a chance to take any pics. My next step is to get me an ipod so that I don't have to listen to his bad jokes .
I do miss my trailer, I can't take a nap or eat snacks on the roll. The thing that I do like is the fact that now I can see everything, including all the Ladies ;), they can't resist my dimples.
I'm thinking about getting a helmet cam :?:.
Hero's was fun but man I still can't stop thinking about those pancakes :bang:.
And about my spelling, 2 things.....
    1) Wilshire Ave. Preschool
    2) spell check

I've got to say a few things about Adam and his riding. This dude rocks. He has ridden just about every trail in O.C. He started riding in his Burley trailer at 2 months old. At 4 months old he won the grand prize in the tour de tryptophan (I think that was due to his age and shoe size). He has rolled the Burley more times than I can remember, and it really didn't phase him. He was on trailer #2, he wore out his first one. Now that he is 3 we have been looking to get him on a tag along. "mtbdad" posted about the Shocker trail-a-bike and I knew that was for Adam. I found a Shocker on craigslist a couple of weeks ago and Adam took right to it. Now he has about 5 rides on it, but he hasn't got the whole pedaling idea yet.
This brings us to Sundays Loop ride. That was his first full ride of the Loop. And let me tell you something, as a Dad riding with my boy I still can't stop smiling I'm very proud. I still need to get him some toe clips to keep his feet on the pedals. We had a minor issue Sunday at the jump down by the Golf course, his feet flew off the pedals and his left foot got wedged between his tire and seat stay. He was a little scared, but it was nothing that a bag of gummies wouldn't fix. At the big hill at the end we were feeling saucy so we went up, Adam was chatting all the way. On the way down I told him to stand on the pedals and... he rocked it :bang:. It was a fun ride with a good group of people. Hero's after ride feeding frenzy......that was a story for another day.
Thank you to everybody for the encouragement, Shuga is the man.........watch out Dino.

    Just remembered a few things...

    1. Shuga was ridiculously shy (beginning of the ride).... 8-[
If a person said "Hi" to him, the kid would do everything in his power to hide (i.e. turn his head, cover his eyes, put his head on the handlebar, disappear behind his Daddy's leg etc.) By the end of the ride, he was handing out high fives...

    2. Forgot the street name...
After the first railroad track... You ride perpendicular to the curb AND then ride up-and-over the railroad tie (many people walk it)....

Carbonman decided the family was going to ride over that section (rather than walking).... First tire makes it over... Rear wheel makes it over... Shuga launced 2" inches in the air... Family rides away!

What Mom and Dad failed to see was:
As soon as Shuga's tire touched the ground, he looked to his left..8-[ looked to his right...8-[ looked behind him....8-[ He was sooo proud of himself... No one even noticed... No one saw him GRINNING from ear to ear :( .... (Elvia may have seen it)!

    Amazing....

Thanks for the RR Shuga and thanks for the pictures Dino.

Haven't seen you in awhile, but I did see your Captain and the Colonel climbing Mathis a couple months ago. Hope to see you at the kids ride in October.
