Mark- That sucks man, glad you got out. Come on down to Hillcrest if you need a place to go (I can pick you guys up if need be). Fire has played a major role in my life these last two months... -Brendan
So, Lake Wolfard (east of Daley) has been evacuated and a VERY large and fast moving fire is sweeping west thru the area. Goodbye Daley Ranch and Valley Center.
Thankfully we have not signed into Escrow yet... I think something bigger out there has been watching over this for us.:read:
This is insane. Downtown/Uptown is pretty smoke free right now, if anyone wants to get out of the stench.
There are some seriously BIG dollar estates out there. Not to mention some of the best road riding I have ever done. Beautiful old growth trees everywhere.
Luckeee... Immediately overhead it looks OK here, but there is a LOT of crap in the air. It's pretty brown/grey outside the windows here... Actually, looks MUCH worse than it did this morning. Pretty much looks foggy, but it's not.
I'm at work and haven't heard much about east Chula Vista area, does anyone have any news of Otay Lakes/Eastlake area please:-s
They said something about the fire down off the 8 is eventually going to burn all the way to the Otay Lakes area.. dont know more than that. i could have heard it wrong.
The 94 is closed up to at Otay Lakes Rd eastbound. I heard that they have at least one helicopter running to help contain it. Not much else news about that yet. The schools are still in session, so I guess that could be seen as a good sign.
The Fire Chief said in the news conference regarding Chula Vista, that the fire is heading West towards the Eastern part of Chula Vista/ Otay Lakes at the current rate. Hope for a wind change or it dies down so we can get some air support.
