OK guys, Here's the official RSVP for the SART ride on Sat. June 2nd. meet at dirt lot off hwy38 at 8:30 and we can start from the post office. Check out the proposed route at http://www.mountainbikebill.com/SART.htm Thanks and lets have a blast! Ben :welcome:
Ben--I may need to follow you up there. I will either be leaving from Fallbrook or Hemet. I can also take a couple more riders and bikes if need be.
I've done this ride twice. I added it to my calendar. You'll find route info and a bunch of pics at the website below. - snip: spam removed - ---mark, 3F
Is there gonna be any shuttling or riding the whole thing? If we ride it all sack lunches are probly a good idea. I cant wait!
The last time I rode this I used the geo-ladders route as a guidline which means we parked one car at the ranger station and another at the top by a camp ground. I know there is a lot more to this trail and I'm looking for input from people who are experienced with it. I wouldn't mind having a 30+ mile ride that day. BTW, who's up for it on a single speed?
I'll be doing it on my SS. Of course, my SS has 27 gears, but I can only use one at a time, so it's technically a SS, right? If I ever figure out how to pedal two gears at once, you'll all be the first to know.
The SS has been done at SART many times, you guys need to use CX rigs for some "real" entertainment:lol:.....Marc, I know you can do it:bang: Have fun, its a blast ala uno gearo!
What bike is everyone bringing? SS suffering again, or is it a free for all? Maybe I'll bring out the Dos for this one.
I'm leaning towards the SS for this one. As I remember, there were only a few spots that warranted a more aggressive bike. If I feel really crazy I might bring the cyclo-cross! (JK!)
The easy route starts at the bottom of the road below the restaurant and post office. This is an up and back route. The more fun route (but with a big climb out) starts at the restaurant, goes up the street a bit to the trail leading by Jenks lake and drops into the top of what otherwise would be the end of the up and back. It adds considerable distance and difficulty to the ride to add that bonus top section in and also for not parking at the bottom, but it's hella fun. Here are photos of the short route that you start below the post office: Santa Ana River Trail Here are photos of the route including the upper bonus loop: Santa Ana River Trail & Jenks Lake Loop ---mark
i say we start with the jenk's lake loop, go to southfork and ride from there to glass, glass to middle control and out. If people want more miles they can do the post oiffice loop to middle control
