Looks like it is burning near O'Neil park from the map they showed on KCAL. Bummer...

    Home for the evening.

Pretty fast fire tonight. I knew it was not good news when I first received the call from OCFA. His first words were "Adam...you got a big one out there".

Looks like currently volunteer evacuations of the Portola Springs and Orchard Hills Areas are in place.

But I'm keeping my thoughts hopeful that they can circumvent it from getting into Limestone Proper, the Sinks, Agua Chinon, or Whiting Ranch.

OCFA is the best.....these people are really on top of their game plan.

From my visual observations and conversations with people on-the-ground, it appears a very rough outline of the burn looks something like this. Not accurate by any stretch, but as close as I can get it from what I've seen.

I'm sure OCFA will have an accurate outline on their website as soon as feasible.

Gonna be an interesting day tommorw, and probably a pretty depressing site.

I live next to Peter's Canyon. We could see the fires and some of my neighbors are evacuating. We're staying put but will be packing if ever the fires go our way.

Looks like it got worse overnight...man..this is crazy. I used to live in Northwood - right across from Northwood High School off Portola and Yale. I'm in Oak Creek (other side of the 5) now, but the smoke and ashes are still crazy.

    Holy Crap!!!

What a mess! I am very glad I rode Limestone last week now. I thought we were going to get evacuated so Maxwell came and picked up some of my bikes and the rest are in my car. I also grabed a case of Stone 11th anniversary and a good bottle of Irish whiskey.

And I did get all the other critical things too. Good luck everyone!!!

You'd better not leave the Irish Whiskey (the bikes go without saying)!!! ;)

Seriously, I have the day off, if anyone needs anything please let me know. (Not going to post my phone number, but I think Tracy and Neil have it, as well as others that were on the Yeti interest list)

Good luck you guys, and stay safe!!!!

If anyone needs a place to go or just wants to get out of the poor air quality for now, we have plenty of room. We're about 4 hrs north of O.C. in Morro Bay.

I haven't seen it posted yet, but I heard on the news this morning that it is being reported as arson, with three beginning spots. Sad.:?:

heard the arson thought as well. seems to be the most plausable cause so far.

it was rather amazing last night- we were at my mom-in-law's house near irvine blvd and jeffery and things just went dark at about 6:00 due to the smoke, which was all sorts of colors and seemed damn close to the ground. what a trip. our house (alton/jeffery) is getting rained on with ash. the fire got damn close to mom-in-law's house when the nursery at irvine blvd/jeffery burned this a.m.

the silliest thing i saw was the "spectator" activity of all the people parked on irvine blvd between jeffery and sand canyon just to watch the fire. oh well- at least they weren't at home glued to the TV. (odd consolation)
