NO!!! i have not turned into a full fledged roadie! Cat1 = Expert XC and DH (they changed the mtb classifications this year) i don't know how long i will be sidelined, but i think 'ol 1 arm is going go be out at fontucky this saturday
looks like i tore my rotator cuff on saturday. going for an MRI today. Dr says, "If it looks like I think it will, game over, you go to surgery."
Sorry to hear that my little cub!!! Been there, done that, however mine took 20 years of abuse before the tear was bad enough to have it repaired!!! No, that would be broken bike rider on hiatus!!!
Heres Kyle from Transition hitting the course. http://www.pinkbike.com/video/2990/ Its a blast I smoked my class by almost 40 seconds and didnt do 2nd run due to back spasms, I broke my T7 3 months earlier on a stair gap so I had maybe a month back on the bike and no real exercise. Either way this course is a blast especially at speed. BTW: Sorry to hear about the injury in the posts above, heal quick!
He could also change his avatar to this one and here is his trophy .. But it's all good, the 'baggers just make some of us slow riders work harder
changed my avatar for ya'll I will move up if they let me keep my points, otherwise, i am staying and finishing off the season here in beginner.
Healing Vibes your way. Will it affect your pit crewing ability for Allison too, or can you still wrench?
my view on the whole matter: i signed up at race #1 for 19-26 beg. thinking it would be cook and i would do some what ok. i did a few practice runs and after fallowing some of the riders in that class i went and switched to the 200+club. its funny after finishing the race i wanted to see what the results of the 19-26 beg class was and it was redickulous .... the 1-3rd place times would have split the time in sport . it was almost a full min in fron of the winning time in the 200+club. I was fully warned that the 19-26 beg class was FULL of s.bags for the guys like me that are new to dh or just still at the beg. level it makes racing no fun at all. im sure we all like winning but it sucks so many people s. bag just to podium.
I get that there are a lot of sandbaggers, but don'tet it stop you from racing, its more about having fun. And not everyone is a sandbagger, a number of people once they know they should move up do.
It happens in every sport..It really isn't gonna stop me, nor should it stop anyone from enjoying something that they love doing..
just get out there and try it. you know you want too. never know, you might be a sandbagger as well. lol.
Sandbagging USAC style So, in light of the "Sandbagging" issue, I decided to email the CEO of USAC to see what his take is.....Here is the email thread (newest first). ---------------------------------------------------- "Lusk, Kelli" <[email protected]> To: Nancy Harris Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2009 11:33:18 AM Subject: RE: New Results & Rankings Program Introduced for 2009 Racing Season Much of the monitoring falls upon the local promoter and/or USAC official at the event. We currently do not have a national-based system to monitor riders using one-days. We are aware of the sandbagging issue and are working on a way to collect the one-day license information so a system can be put in place in the future. Best Regards, Kelli Lusk USA Cycling, Inc. I was wondering if there is any sort of monitoring going on at this point as I know of many folks who are not doing enough racing to warrant a yearly license so they are purchasing 1 day licenses so they can continue to race. Most of them used to race Expert and of course are getting 1 day licenses to race in the Sport class. This unfortunately makes the whole idea of sandbagging worse than it used to be. ------------------------------------------------------ From: "Lusk, Kelli" <[email protected]> To: Nancy Harris Cc: "Brunelli, Andrea" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2009 11:10:25 AM Subject: FW: New Results & Rankings Program Introduced for 2009 Racing Season Nancy – There is a formal process for downgrading. The upgrading and downgrading procedures are outlined in the 2009 USAC Rulebook, posted on the officials page of the USAC website. http://www.usacycling.org/news/user/story.php?id=369 Per the rules, riders cannot move between categories. Once they have raced as an Expert (or now Category 1), they must race there unless they submit a downgrade request through their USAC online membership account. Riders must provide valid reasons for downgrading in order for it to be approved. Best Regards, Kelli Lusk USA Cycling, Inc. However, there is another issue that also needs to be revisited. Based on the fact that you allow 1 day licesnses for Beginner and Sport Downhill riders, there are many riders who used to race in the Expert class who no longer want to pay for a yearly license so they sign up for Sport instead. There has always been alot of sandbagging going on, but now it is getting ridiculous. Didn't there used to be an actual formal process for downgrading your racing level? Thank you, Nancy Harris
