SMT hails from much further north than the 909 dirt crew. We're from the 951, but still need to hit up some DH in SD with you peeps.
Good... I thought she was from the "Cult of SMT" !! OK, I need to get off this site and do some work.
With all the San Diego riders around here, we better be able to hook up some good rides. None of us should ever have to ride a solo again:bang:
PacMan...you hit it dead on! When I lived in AZ there was a night ride going on every day...just had to choose where you felt like riding and show up...Monday through Sunday, it didn't matter. When I moved to SD, the biking scene felt kinda lonely and my light began to collect dust. My battery died (for good) and I haven't been night riding since! With the nights getting shorter (already...sorry, had to be the one to say it), we really should get something going. Are you in SD "proper" or SD county?
I'm all about getting regular night rides group together. SDYeti- we could start a weekly group ride to Cowles Mt, Florida Canyon, etc on Thursdays after work. North County peeps- I think I'm going to make that Tuesday night La Costa ride a constant too. That single track run would make a great nite ride.
Haha, me too. I've never even been night riding. Hopefully it's nothing like night diving, which is just about the most terrifying thing you can in San Diego.
I've only been on about 12-15 night rides so I'm not that experienced with it, but it does--in my opinion--increase the tech factor a lot. I don't ride nearly as fast at night and I've noticed I seem to pay a lot more attention to the trail. Like when it's daylight, you can scan far ahead, take a mental sweep of the terrain, then you can look around, turn your head to talk to your buddies, etc. At night, you can only see what is directly in front of you, so you have to pay constant attention.
I'm totally down for some night riding...I'll just strap my million candle-power spotlight to the front with a deep cycle marine battery hanging under my seat.
I'm hoping the reflection of Pacmans shaved dome will provide enough ambient light for me to pick my way down
Ya, but for that to work you have to stay close. On the downs maybe, but we know you'll be helpless on the climbs:lol: Just leave an article of your clothing with me for the Search and Rescue dogs. Besides, don't you have to pick your way down in the daylight too:-k:lol:
When I lived in MA and AZ, that's practically all I did...night rides, especially in the summer in Phx. Night riding is really fun, but it usually takes me 2-3 rides before my eyes get used to everything. Welcome to the darkness..........
