well i know many of you, if not all that ride road also ride mtn bikes. although i started my geared adventures on a mountain bike, i havnt touched dirt or a mtn bike in about a month. is this normal? i think it may be the heat getting to me, not only have i not ridden the mtn bikes, my riding frequency went from 2-3 times a week to 6 or 7 days! The lycra and tight jerseys have also taken a firm hold, even bought a new specialized helmet w/o a visor to MATCH the rest of my gear... help?

Ryan, it sounds to me like you need a trip to Mammoth for some DHing.

Nice. I've been using my Giro Atmos helmet for mountain biking lately and it's so much better than my mountain lid. I don't even miss the visor.

That's exactly why a trip is in order.

Usually with the geometry of road bikes, you tend to stare towards the ground more than a MTB so you dont really want a visor so when you look up, the visor doesnt block your vision.... just my $.002

yeah, what like $180? My helmet is going on 3 years and I just had the giro eclipse....like 80 bucks when I got it. I need a new one though. They say to replace it every 3 years unless you wreck it in a crash.

I ride both often , for me when i get to involved in the road I go out and ride the mtb and remember why i started riding bikes. As for the gear i've always rode lyrca and am on my second Giro Atmos helmet. I still have the entry level pedals that the bike shop gave me that are spd compatible. Going on 5,000 miles here in the next month on the road bike. I still prefer the mtb!

I may just get the Pneumo(sp?) its a step down but fits me just as good....

Yeah I had an unfortunate accident that split my helmet from front to back and ripped out a good amount of the inside of my lower lip..... thank God I was wearing it or Id be typing this with a pointer stuck in my mouth!!
