Should consider throwing in a roadie forum, I don't think it will seperate the community because most people here are just for mountain, but there are a selet few who like to hit the pavement every once and a while and it would be nice to organize both road and mountain rides here

    confirmation requested

just to be clear if the roadie forum is voted down (i.e more no's than yes's) we are then also banning all roadie content in any section of the board, right?

Besides I gonna VOTE FOR PEDRO

Several topics that have already come up as threads were solely roadie material. Why not have a spot for the threads so those who really don't want to read can hang out with Pedro?

Is "Why not just call it a lycra forum?" a pro roadie forum option or anti roadie forum option?

What cracks me up is all the "obssesed w/ lycra" people here... I have a feeling they are hiding a secret fetish where they run around the house in nothing but lycra!! :)

'cause damn, I own a road bike and ride it in my MTB baggies w/ my MTB helmet and my MTB shoes/pedals.... 'nuff said....

And George, why ya hanging out on that "other" 80-90% roadie forum ANYWAYS???? Got that secret lycra fetish too???? :)

    Makes you wonder...

i intended it to be a pro roadie forum option because calling it a lycra forum would still be to include another forum, but just instead of call it roadie forum call it lycra forum :?:

Haha, thats funny, cuz the other day, i had to force myself to buy a pair of baggies! I just can't seem to get comfortable in baggies.:-k Maybe i just like to show off to the world!

But yes, absolutely a road forum. As long as we can keep all the children away so they dont make immature comments on every thread posted[-X

Oh yes, and if there is one, ill volunteer to Mod if you'd like george.

A no from me. We don't need another forum, General is not so busy that womans specific or road or 29 ,are needed. Slow inactive forums are a bore. When the activity is so high roadie stuff would get lost then maybe. Remember this site is called TrailRiders. The womans forum seems dead. A roadie one would be as slow as well. My vote would to be keep the General section more fresh with lots of cycle content, Heck fill it with all sorts of road content every July.

i think having a road forum is not on scope with what this site was originally concepted and later built for. if one is so in need of getting/posting road content why not do it on a site that was designed/created/built for roadies?

I don't think that this site was designed specifically for mountain trails only. I would think the site was designed to get people on bikes in socal together to have fun, no matter whether the tires are skinny or fat. There are road trails on most of the river beds in socal. The name of the webpage isn't So Cal Mountain Trail Riders.

If people don't mind, we can just use the general forum for road topics. We could just do away with the same mundane roadie comments. That is why I thought other forums were up. Was to keep the info you didn't want to see out of your face.

Why not.....heck, what are you "Trail Riders" going to do when the trails are too muddy to ride this winter? You get on the road bike. I don't care if you wanna wear lycra shorts or not, that is your decision. YOu wanna wear your Camelbak on your roadbike....do it....do you really care what others think?

    Yeah, I ride a road bike...............and a mountain bike......and a singlespeed.......and a 29er.....and a DH/FR bike......and even dabble in BMX occassionally.

The road bike is a great traing tool. Those of you doing VQ or CC next March would benefit greatly by putting in some long base miles on a road bike.

Hell, I bet if Turner made a road bike.....you all would be praising the merits of road biking.

I think RidetheRaam is right. I believe a road forum would be good. The whole idea would be that people who wanna post road stuff to fellow cyclists(who they've met through these wonderful forums) may do so without being criticized by other posters, and/or feeling like an outsider.

I think the site was originally conceived as a way to gather a few like minded people as a community. Thats what we are. Like minded people. We all enjoy bicycles, correct? We dont play golf, weave baskets, or cook soufle's(no offense to any that do those things!). We ride bicycles.

Yesterday I raced my XC bike(in lycra), this morning i took out the new road bike(in lycra), this afternoon i watched the DH guys at southridge, and this evening i played on the BMX bike. A whole weekend of various disciplines, but guess what, they were all bikes. And i still feel proud to get on STR. Socal Trail Riders. Because i still enjoy trails.

And besides, the only reason i got a roadie was to improve my MTB!! Swear! Oh, does it help that it's a Yeti??:?:

Basically, my point is, if you dont like the road threads, dont read them. And Please! dont post your negative comments on them.

Oh, and also, i frequent MTBR, STR, and RBR.
