Had a great time out at Rim Nordic racing on the new DH course. Great to meet some new Pirates and hang out with some STR folks. Everybody had a great time and we ended up having a total of 45 riders. The promoters are looking for feedback to make the races even better next year. So far they talked about more age groups, shortening the finish line (so we don't have so much uphill at the end and a shuttle service).

Roger was 1st in Cat 1 Men 50+ (no podium picture, he had to give a ride to Jon Buckle up to the Super D course). Jon got 1st in Pro Men and had the fastest time of the day. I got 1st in Cat 1 Women. Hopefully they will post some pics on the Rim Nordic FB page.

    Nicely done, Nancy!!

We had a blast out there today for their XC Race. The course was great, and the weather was gorgeous. Thanks to Bev and the Rim Nordic Crew for another well-organized event.

This was my first time racing on gears up there, and I was slightly nervous about it. But, the new Highball performed seamlessly, and I had way too much fun on it!

    I got 1st in Women's Cat 2

Greg got 2nd in Cat 2 Men's SS

Thanks for a great season, Rim Nordic! We'll be back next year.

WOW ... Good times for sure! It’s always fun to race somewhere new… and even better at the grass roots level. The Rim Nordic DH race was pretty fun! The course was not too technical. There were no big jumps or drops. Good for my all mountain bike. The dirt was very dry, loose and pretty dusty too! But as an ex-desert motorcycle racer the course seemed to be right up my alley.

I think we did six or seven practice runs. The course got better with each run as the turns rutted in nicely. I worked on the places that were a bit off camber. These spots made you go off the edges. The soft dirt made it hard to keep your momentum up. Any braking would just about stop you.
My first race run felt pretty good although I was a little too cautious. But I didn’t make any mistakes. When the times got posted it turned out I was tied for third. I was thinking I’d better step it up to hold third and not get kicked back to fourth place.

Race run number two. I pushed it a little harder!
I was yelling to myself, “Don’t brake! Pedal, Damn it, pedal!”
I hit everything just right, and then pedaled my ass off to the finish!

I knew it was better, but was it good enough to hold onto third?
I told Gabe, “Man that run felt good!” They finally posted the results. WOW,
I ended up getting second place! . Considering I’m not in the best of riding shape right now, it felt good to be able to hang with some pretty fast company

Thank you Nancy for posting the race here. The starter told me thanks for coming out. I said “Thank Nancy for getting us out here!“
It was good to see a lot familiar faces from Fontana out there too!

Freaking Cody was killing it on his dirt jump bike with no front brakes, with just an 80 mm fork, and small block eights on the back… That’s F`n Nuts!!

Thanks to Nancy and Roger for the Shuttles. Oh, and also thanks to Chris and his buddy in the big white Chevy!

Good job Kyle! Gabe, thanks for the beer!
    Rob
