Hi Adam, Will the gate be open, or should we park at the tennis courts? I will most likely be there, but will not be able to confirm until late next week.
Adam, I will be trying to make it to help out. I will know by Wed the lasted if I can make it. I look forward to helping out. Thanks
For those showing up Saturday Trail Work Confirmation Saturday, October 29th Cattle Camp Staging Area - Bommer Canyon (Map attached) We will be working on the East Fork Trail repairing existing water bars and brushing the upper section of the trail. All tools, gloves and water will be supplied for the work. The work will be followed by a guided mountain bike ride through Bommer and Shady Canyon, followed by free lunch at the staging area. We want to get to the trail work promptly, so we would like everyone to show up at least 15 minutes early to get signed in for the morning. I will open the gates by 7:00 am and will lock them promptly at 8:00 am. Please note that for this particular event, there are no self-guided hike options due to limited staff. Future trail workdays will offer hiking and biking options for the participants. The mountain bike ride will take approximately 2 hours and helmets are mandatory. Again, please plan on arriving early so we can get started on time, as the gates will be locked promptly at 8:00am. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me or call me on my cell phone at 949-370-5602. Thank you for your help and I will see you on Saturday. Adam J. Adam I will be there to help seems fun. Do I take Culver off ramp south to shady canyon and then to Bommer?
I'd love to help out, but i gotta do some of my own trail work on the home front. Anyone need a roomate?
Yep... From the 405 fwy, just head down Culver towards the ocean. Go left onto Shady Canyon Road, the Right onto Bommer Canyon. There is a street sign for Bommer Canyon Road, but it looks more like a driveway than a street. Signal early and be careful of the cars behind you. Both gates will be open at 7:00 am. Drive slow when approaching the second gate since there is a bike path that crosses just in front of the gate. See ya
So how did the trail work go? I wish I could have helped out but I was moving all weekend, not to mention i was sick too. I didnt even get to give my Heckler any love this weekend.
Trail work when fast, as a number of people showed up, something like 14 of us. Adam took us on a sweet singletrack he calls "Shady Lady" thats drops into Shady Canyon from Bommer Ridge. Total ride was a little short of 9 miles. There are some steep fireroad climbs out there. I took my single speed and ended up walking some of them.
Part of the singletrack into Shady Canyon. Did not take many pictures as I did not what to hold up the rest of the riders.
Thanks for the pics Dean. That singletrack looks pretty fun, how long is it? Adam, Craig told me that you'll be having more of these trail work sessions. Are any of them going to be on a Sunday?
Sunday's are definitely an option as are some weekday also. We need to get in 11 more workdays before June 06, so there will be plenty of opportunities. I need to get a work date for December solidified this week; so is there a general consensus from this board on a Saturday or Sunday preference? Let me know. Thanks Adam
I am sorry I missed it. I set my alarm, but it did not go off.](*,) I though about showing up late but had no idea where you'd be. Next time! Sunday's are best for me. I could also probably do some of the weekdays, depending on the time.
With enough notice I can get any day off, but Sunday would be my preference. Really like the idea of a mid-week option also--I'm most likely to be off then anyway.
