    Wouch! Abui!
    That makes my knees weak.
It's never "IF" in Mountain Biking, it's always "WHEN".
    Healing vibes my brothah.....

Very well. Three weeks ago I was warned that the strength was about 30% and that progress would be slow. That refers to skin and flesh, no muscles are involved. I am very polite at dinner and never rest my elbow or forearm on the table. :) The arm is functional but I don't do heavy lifting/pressure as I can feel it in the joint.

My first ride back was on the 19th. I wear elbow armor with an arm-cooler sleeve to lessen friction and a long sleeve jersey too if it's cold. I wear knee pads too. The last suture on the knee fell out Saturday. The knee had a few slices but superficial compare to the arm.

I just got the hospital bill yesterday. The bill is $103,365.00. Insurance covered 99%, whew!

Here's the picture. Cosmetically it looks good.
    Thanks for asking.

The arm looks great, glad to see the progress.. that was a nasty wound.. also glad to hear about 99% coverage insurance wise.. that was a healthy tab.. you must have a great insurance. I have what I'm told is a very good Aetna Premium PPO and I'm 80/20 after deductible has been met, so for me I'd still be out of pocket 20K on that gig.. congrats on both fronts - the healing and the coverage :)

Actually had to double check to make sure after seeing your numbers.. I'm a 90/10 with my PPO, so that's a little better, I'd only be on the hook for 10K :)

Happy to hear you're ok Doug! I had a feeling you were recovering well based on your strava posts - PR's!

Come out to Acton this Sunday and ride AT with us. I'll be on the SS so no PR's for me.

That is NASTY! Have a speedy recovery. If I have to decide whether or not to wear armor next time I'll try and remember your pix.

Wow, what an injury... looks more like a knife fight! Do you still have pieces of debris in the arm or did they get pushed out by your body naturally?

Only thing left now is to make us some great story for the ladies!

Knife-fight? The damage was rough-edged until the first surgeon cleaned it up!
A neurosurgeon lengthened the cut so he could remove debris near the ulnar nerve. That's why the slice goes around the elbow.
