So glad to see some encouraging news. Definitely keeping both riders in my thoughts.
9er, I hope maybe you can post an update at some point. Best wishes to your friend and you in this difficult time.

This has been on my mind all weekend, I was looking for news online but missed this thread somehow until this morning. I'm very relieved to learn that the mountain biker survived. I hope both riders recover fully and quickly.

I wish people wouldn't comment on whether or not someone survived an accident unless they know the facts. I'm sure they're just trying to be helpful, but that seems to happen a lot with these incidents--people on facebook or OC Register posting "they heard that the rider died"... I think they're just trying to be helpful, but I wish they'd not pass along information that they don't know is accurate when it's about whether or not someone died.

I just found out who this rider is. He is a good friend of mine as well. I am pretty devastated by the news. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers.

It would be cool to send the guy some sort of get well gift, even if it's a bunch of bike magazines or something like that. I think you can do that if you have the person's name and what hospital they're at. Perhaps 9er can help coordinate that?

I talked to his wife yesterday. He’s in pretty bad shape but is one of the toughest guys I know. It’s a pretty hectic time and there’s a lot to take in so most everyone is giving the family space and letting the smoke settle. This family is one well oiled machine and I can tell you they will pull through this.
He has a long road ahead so there will be plenty of time for acts of kindness and generosity.

Also, I got a call from another friend. Turns out the other man involved works for him. He was on his way to work when the accident happened. He’s very beat up as well but I don’t have much more detail than that.

These are two good men, each a family man with children. They met in a very unfortunate way. Keep them both in your hearts and minds.

Please send some positive "Chi" with prayers to both of them. I know them both and they are good people.
Let me know when we can start giving help where needed.

That is not true. One set of double yellow lines in California means you can not pass. It is legal to turn left or make a u-turn over double yellow lines in a car or on a bike (except in areas designated as business districts...obviously that is not the case here). If there are two sets then it is a "divided highway" and you can not cross under any circumstances. Frank is a friend of mine as well as my neighbor. I have been out of town and just found out today that this happened. He is in my prayers as well as my family's. He certainly is a tough guy and has recovered from many injuries before. I wish him the best.
