Road Ride Ride of Silence 5/19

This ride will take place in Murrieta at Chick-Fil-A off of Madison. This is to raise awareness of cyclists presence on the roads and to memorize those whom have been injured or killed.
I read in the Press Enterprise today that a 55 year old man from Costa Mesa was killed off of Temescal Rd. & Indina Truck trail.
This is a great cause for all cyclists.

 

Yes, I've done it the past 2 years in Irvine. I plan on doing it again this year.

Route: Flat 9.7 mile loop around Irvine; on-street bike lanes and off street bike way:
Repeat of the 2006, 7, 8 & 9 route run East on Alton with several regroups then return on the
San Diego Creek bikeway so we can fully regroup by the time we get back to the start.

Gene, I am planning on doing it this year. Its on my way home from work anyways so I figured I would take this detour and then ride home. Which bike are you bringing?

Riding in Irvine this year, 2nd year....

 

Ok......maybe I bumped my head once too many times. I am confused, Is this
ride in Irvine or Murietta? Do you guys want to meet up some where and ride
together. I would like to meet some STR peeps!

They are taking place at multiple locations. I live in the I.E. (not 909):?: So I will be at the Murrieta local.

 

It's all over the world - looks like Irvine is having one as well as Murrietta.
I rode in Irvine last year and am looking for a ride this year.
I'll be on tour following the Tour of California and it looks like that day I'm going to stay at Lake Success outside of Porterville. Visalia or Bakerspatch might work for me, but don't see those yet.

Notes: Join us for our fourth Riverside County Ride of Silence, May 19 starting at 7 p.m., starting and stopping at Chik Fil A, 24794 Madison, Murrieta. Chik Fil A is donating proceeds from every meal sold to the family of Jorge Alvarado, a local racer who recently joined the Bahati team, killed April 8 by teenagers racing their cars in Highland. Bring your family, stay after the ride to eat -- a lot -- and help Jorge's family. We will ride 10 miles to Temecula Old Town and back, several local bicycle clubs will be participating. We have averaged 60-80 riders each year, but this year it could be a larger crowd. Bring lights, we will try to have enough black arm bands available, but you can bring your own. I dunno if I'll actually ride, my track bike is out of comission and I hate riding road on my mtn. bike-too slow.

you will fine on your mtb. this is a slow ride.

 

I attended the irvine last year just for the experience and support. I was surprised at how much the ride affected me afterwards. Hearing nothing. Ut tires gears and brakes with that many cyclists was quite the experience. Ill be attending again this year. I sure hope more people will come anrld represent for the MTB community. I'll be riding my Kona hardtail and wearing my STR jersey.
