i have noticed that the new Jenson adds in the General forums seem to take up waaaayyy too much space. Gone is the banner ads and replaced with a full page listing.

What makes it worse is that you have to scroll through their add to get to the bottom to go to the next page of the thread you are trying to read.

I am down for the banner ads.....I know it is a neccessary evil for a site like this to survive. Just not a fan of the full page ad.

Your complaint would carry more weight with me if you had a dohickey showing that you support the site. If everyone had a dohickey maybe there would be no need for banner adds.

We were a supporting member for a year.....paid advertising with a banner ad. So yes, we do support the site.

Feedback and comments are always welcome - it's better to have this out in the open so I know what people are thinking.

The ad you're talking about only expands when you click the tabs. If you keep it on the first tab then it's the same size it always was. Attached a couple screenshots - one with the default look and one after you click a tab. Now if the new higher placement of some ads bug you than that's a different story.

STR won't ever have as many ads as most of the sites out there. My personal opinion is that ads have their place as long as they add value to the site but become a hinderance real quick when they get in the way of browsing between pages.

Also, we have an idea right now which will help companies communicate with riders without adding more banner ads to the site. More details on that to come later :)

By default they should be closed until yo do open up one of the tabs.

As it stand right now, the page is open, until you click on the Jenson tab to colapse it down to a banner only.

If it's open on your browser by default then it's a bug. What browser are you using?

I had no idea of the "support STR" tab until I read this post, shows how much attention I pay to those tabs.

I do not even live in SoCal (intend to though!) and I am going to subscribe. STR is by far the most friendly and helpful forum for bikers out there. I have learned many things just reading forums and even purchased from the marketplace in my first month of joining.

    Happy to help:beer:

All I have is the one inch banner with no tabs. Doesn't bother me a bit.

It's only "SPAM" if you consider "SPAM" to be 20 emails and 10 PM's a day from every bike company west of the mississippi.

FWIW I like the Jenson ads and the way I can expand them. It's nice when I'm just goofing off on here to be able to check deals from one of my favorite shops- and when I don't want to they do not get it the way. Good design.
