maybe try educating yourself so you avoid looking like an ass (ie, a$$). There are SEVERAL uses of the word but one commonly applied is as follows.

Ghey used to describe someone who is extremely lame or boring. Not to be confused with "Gay" which describes a homosexual.

    Play nice.

This is frivolity defined. Some groups are inclined to believe that using profanity is indicative of a limited vocabulary and an indicator of class and tact. Another feels that within the proper context that colorful adjectives can better convey what the author intended. Some people will naturally be more sensitive than others and may feel inclined to force their values upon those who may feel inclined to take them under advisement.

Point is that everyone of us is different, whether we communicate in English, Spanish, Chinese or Ebonics it would do well to stick to business and and in this case bicycles and refrain from activities some would call "ghey".

Cant we all just get along without feeling obligated to tattle publicly to moderators? Try sending a PM, if not to the offender at least to a moderator so that they can continue their work without first having to douse a flame fest.

that's right (that's why we call it education).

just like if you spell the "n" word differently it doesn't offend anyone. kinda like kracker. or kretin.

btw- i'll bet if your sister or uncle or best friend were gay you'd feel differently and wouldn't use it so nonchalantly.

    Easy with that

If this thread keeps going someone will quote Lenny Bruce or George Carlin's "seven words" bit.

All these labels do great jobs drawing lines betwixt us, which is why I consider myself "American".

I in fact have very good friends of mine thst are gay and call things ghey all the time - they find the double entendre pretty amusing.

Yup...I just got off the phone with my "brightly colored" "happy" cousin in NYC and he said we are all good...the official word is that it is indeed non offensive to the community at large and he would know as he is very brightly colored and happy. I just wanted to pass along the good news.

    And Nigga ain't Nigger?:?:

    C'mon folks...

Just look at the history of words...
Golly is short for God's Body
    Jeez is short for Jesus

    http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/minced-oath.html

Just an FYI: A Fanny Pack isn't what you think it is in England. either is a Fag.

To claim that Ghey didn't get it's origin from Gay is Ludicris (sic)!!

Here is a relatively interesting article in USA Today:
    http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al/2005-09-29-word-connotation_x.htm

    Just to go on record:
    Words iz words ASFAIAC
Nothing offends me (I mean nothing - much to MaryMary's dismay).
I've never been offended in my life and consequently I don't understand the concept but I do find the discourse on the subject interesting.

Go easy on him, Shizz. He's old and knows not what is "hip" in the land of leet colloquialisms, mah nigguh!

Someone woth a sense of humor, point Mel Brooks to this thread!

My godmother is black, many of my friends are gay...and both of them know the difference in context when someone is using a colloquialism, or when someone is trying to offend.

I wish more people were capable of discerning these things. :(

    Why?

What makes me giggle is all these crucifixes and WWJD bumper stickers aren't seen a graven images. But most religion is organized with the profit motive second only to exercising control over the masses.

Don't forget the newer, more trendy NOTW stickers! I giggle when these "devout" holy people are the first ones to speed up so you can't change lanes, cut you off, etc.

I bet Jesus didn't drive like that...

NOTW is a band I think, but in case of rapture I may have to start car jacking so I can get out of dodge.
