Or, perhaps the bringer of any sub-30 lb gear'd ride should have to drink one before each climb?... to make it fair for the rest of us, of course.

For the most part yes, but that isn't why there is a 30lb weight requirement for this ride. It is so you will suffer more with a heavier bike
Weigh In!! OK, here's the scoop on the weigh in; Weigh in starts at 7:45 am. Not everybody has to weigh their bikes in, only if you want to show off how much you like to suffer. If you end up being the rider with the heaviest bike you are "invited" to stay we me durring the ENTIRE ride. After finishing the ride, you will be rewarded with a $50.00 gift card provided by Tani and The Path Bike Shop. Remember, I'm NOT Mark Weir, and you're NOT gonna win a new bike. All you have to do is stay with me and my group, finish with a SMILE, and the card is your's.\\/ See you all in the morning!
im out guys. im bummed, but my tattoo artist (i had some work done tonight) recommended that i avoid sweating profusely for at least two weeks...and if i HAVE to ride (which i do), he thinks that i should wait at least 7 days. have fun and im looking forward to the RR's and pix.
somehow the excitement builds up on this thread and make me wanna get a heavy DH bike as my next ride. The pain makes this ride more memorable. Hope to join you guys someday.
