    search question

So I wanted info on BMX pedals and typed in bmx pedals. My search result said your search phrase was either too long, too short, or too common and it only searched the word BMX.

Seems like a totally lame response. Was it too short? Was it too long? Was it too common? Well since I am not doing the database search manually I have no idea which it is. Deductive reasoning tells me it wasnt too long since it searched BMX just fine...so was it too long or was it too common? Considering I havent seen a thread on BMX pedals I imagine it wasnt too common either so that leaves it was too long.

    What gives?

Agreed...the STR search function doesn't work well. Try finding anything with only two or three letters, such as VPX, SLX, VPP, M6, M3, BMX, Fox, 4X, DH, SJT, ABA, NBL, EOS, etc...and the search function becomes useless. Odd, though, if you do a search for STR and you get a bunch of results.

I think the problem still exists regarding the minimum number of letters used in a search. Can that be changed? Note that many other forums, including mtbr, allow two and three letter searches.

    Search Feature

Maybe I need some instruction on searching but it seems that if multiple search words are entered each word is treated as a new search criteria with an OR SQL statement. Using features like quotes around a full search words or using the AND function are ignored. For instance if I want to search on Mt Wilson Toll Road, the search will look for posts with Wilson, Toll, and Road in them. This is far different than Mt Wilson Toll Road.
